147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

Yeah cause it's been dirty hits and dogpiles so far. I'm just saying I could see a few good square up drop the gloves style real fights going down tonight. They may cut down on the dirty hits and revenge fights but this series is primed for a good one or two tonight, besides for all the shit that's gone down we really haven't had a good legitimate fight in this series. It'll be interesting to see how it goes.

Also, go Sens. I really don't wanna play the rangers.

every single commentator on the sports panel that I was watching said that it was a late hit. they said it was 0.8 seconds after he got rid of the puck to be exact, which by NHL standards is a late hit. to say that the hit "wasn't at all late" is simply not true.

I'd rather the bruins honestly, we got a score to settle from last year and I think we could get more over on timmy t than that fuck lundqvist or however ya spell it. Like every game this year that's all I remember hearing SAVE LUNDQVIST over and over.

Although the way the flyers have been playing so far in the playoffs I'd say we got a shot against anybody. I mean a double hattrick playoff game?? Two 8 goal games in a series?? Our depth is pretty frickin amazing.

a late hit is a very subjective concept in the NHL. Much of it has to do with where the play is, had the player shifted roles etc. etc.

To me it looked like Torres was setting up for the hit before Hossa lost control of the puck. Hossa had made one stride before the impact.

Just a player finishing his check in my opinion. But clearly the linesman who was watching the entire thing unfold 4 feet in front of him is a bumbling retard who hasn't reffed a hockey game before in his life, and this need to be a suspension.

The Rags are a bad matchup for the Flyers in numerous ways. They've been stymied all year by their team defense. If they got into a series, you better believe the score would come down to those 2-1 0-1 3-2 games. I doubt we'll see another game where the Flyers are able to get more than five goals, so it's really up to the defense and Bryz on that end.

Respectfully disagree, a lot of our guys have stepped it up bigtime for the playoffs. Also I don't see bryzer holding anybody to 1 or 2 goal games and our guys will play that much harder to catch up. I think in a series we're gonna end up cracking king henrik eventually.

Yea and two weeks ago I would have said zero chance we sweep the pens. And I doubt before this series you would have called fleury a sieve of a goalie. I think this flyers team has a chance at surprising a lot of people.

Agreed about the flyers but the flower has always lacked in playoff games. I do not think the flyers will advance after the pens. I al really hope the penguins win tonight just so it isn't a sweep. If fleury starts the flyers will win no doubt. Plus with Neal out we are taking a loss. He is to good of a player to be getting suspensions. Anyone else think Bysmal's job could be in jeopardy?

I'm an optimistic homer who's never played a game of hockey in his life. I'm sure lavs has got this shit under control. I already stated I wouldn't be surprised if the pens won tonight, but I also stated I doubt the pens take a win if we go back to shitsburgh. There ain't an ounce of quit in this team and you know it.

I was under the impression they already said fleury will start. I really don't see it making a difference though honestly. Philly is hungry for a win and a sweep in the worst way. As much as I want a sweep and a win though, I could just as easily enjoy watching three more games of this series. This shit has been incredible.

I could care less if we go any farther actually, if we could sweep the pens that would give me ammo against all you pissburgh fans for the next year haha.

Schneids is back in tonight and Daniel is a game-time decision.
Personally I like Schneids playing again, he deserved the win last game and woulda got it if we coulda scored a goal and not blown defensive coverage. Put him in and let the team prove they can get him a win as redemption for last game

About Daniel, I only want him playing if he is 100%. Don't wanna risk playing and getting more hurt, there could be more important things at stake for him then winning a hockey game

...regardless, in todays NHL, that hit is blatently suspendable. Yeah, if this was 2001 or something, I'd have shrugged it off and said "that's hockey" but in this day and age where the league is trying to prevent guys from going to the hospital, I don't see how you could say "that's as clean as you're going to get" with that hit. No, it wasn't really late, he was about a sticklength away, but he jumped into the hit, which has no place in this league if guys are going to leave on a stretcher.

Even if he didn't go to the hospital, I'd have said that was a typical, dirty, Raffi Torres: "I'm going to ruin everyone's day" sort of a hit. I wish he was still in Columbus so at least he wouldn't be doing this bullshit during the playoffs. He's got a history of this shit.



Maybe I'm still pissed about this, but I'm absolutely not a fan of the Blackhawks, and this is effecting me.

Fair enough, but I urge to you reconsider. It's going to get a lot tighter defensively, so you'll see a lot more neutral zone traps going on (essentially just clogging it up to prevent any hard transitions) which will lead to less scoring chances. I think that it would be reasonable to see anywhere from 3-5 goals, but no more than that.

I really hate how this game has gotten to a point where it's all about narrative and no one much cares about how the game's actually being played so long as they can tell a good story.

I feel like this is part of the plan to "market to the American viewer" who might not be initiated in the game but would be interested in following it if they had it pitched to them. I.e., give them someone to hate, give them an angle to follow, and they'll be more likely to tune in. It really doesn't matter if the angle is based in reality or has only a tenuous connection to reality, if it's a story you can put over, just beat it to death and people will accept it.

I would much rather watch the actual hockey being played than hear about the bullshit drama and concocted garbage. It's everything from player reputations to team reputations to fanbases to the meaning of statistics - yeah if you block a lot of shots you're a good player to have on the team because you're willing to sacrifice. Never mind that your team sucks at possession.

The NHL is turning into the WWE. /rant.

As far as the Torres hit goes I'm not even going to bother arguing with you people because you're clearly already rolling downhill. But the screenshot up there is just retarded. That's not taken at the principal point of contact. You might as well just photoshop him going at Hossa with an axe.

The defense and goal tending in this pitts/philly match up is laughably pathetic...it might be easier for both teams to just exit the playoffs now because neither of them will do a damn thing against the rest of the east with these performances

This is my problem with all the "Flyers for Cup" calls I'm hearing just because they're blowing up Pittsburgh. Guys, before the series, everyone wondered whether Bryzgalov would play well. He hasn't. Fleury has just played even worse. Seriously, the way any other team in either conference is playing right now they'd probably be beating the Flyers.

Basically the super anticipated series has featured two goalies totally shitting the bed. One's just managed to be worse.

fuck that. the rangers should be up. the have been outplaying the sens up until the sens first goal then they just collapsed. now their just sloppy and getting penalties. calm the fuck down, regroup score a couple goals and take the 2 game lead in the series
