147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

My goal is to actually come on NS this winter so I don't look like someone who just jumped in during the playoffs. That being said I am pretty interested in hearing the injury reports for both teams after these playoffs.

So glad to get some variety in the teams played against, honestly kinda tired of the stress that comes with playoffs. I don't get the whole "hate the other city and its fans" thing so during the season when it's just about the hockey is gonna be refreshing.

I sense a first round knockout of the canucks this coming year. Though that's what I predicted this year too and look what happened...

And I don't know enough about all the other teams to guess who's gonna take it next year.

1. Resign Ian White for a reasonable amount.
2. Resign Devin Setoguchi.
3. Sign Desjardins and Ferreiro.
4. SIGN/TRADE FOR A FUCKING LEGIT #2 DEFENSEMAN PLEASE...

I suggest you sign someone like Doug Wilson... circa 1991 or something... He'd be good for this team, plus he said 'fuck no' to helmets, which is Badass, and real hockey...

What Vancouver has been doing with their players is the same thing Detroit did to keep them. Convincing them to take a lower salary to stick with the team. Burrows could easily make 5 mil a year somewhere else, but he accepted 2 mil so he could stick with the Canucks. Loyalty kept the Detroit franchise so strong for so long, hopefully it works with Vancouver.

I'll be the first to admit I haven't been watching or even following hockey that long. So honestly I don't really know or understand all the details of signing and trading and salary caps and all that jazz.

With that said, I hope we can make it work to pick up Ilya as a goaltender cause god knows we need help there.

If we do score a solid goaltender I would feel pretty good about next year. We got enough depth that we could lose a player or two if we had to.

wow thats a huge chunk, looks like they were really relying on winning the cup this year and not having to worry about the team breaking up...

Bruins next year...

marchand is the only notable RFA

look for ryder to possibly be gone and kaberle as both are UFA and never really produced this year or lived up to their potential

recchi retired but will hopefully stay around the organizations cause he has a love affair with chiarelli

other than that your gonna have the same nucleus of players, hopefully we leave the defense how it is and pick up a nice right winger in a trade

Go Sens!!! we''ll definitely do a lot better than everyone's going to expect.

but if Edmonton gets some defence and maybe a decent goalie they'll be my top pick.

Montreal's also going to dominate. Subban for Norris 2012!

but we can't forget our newest addition. Let's go Jets. I doubt they'd make the playoffs this next year, but give em some time to settle in.

and all you Pittsburgh fans, still on the wagon eh? they'll do shit this year.

you're trying to insult me when you have no idea what team I am a fan of, let alone it was the worst thing you could have said, because Ottawa doesn't have it much better than the leafs, let alone any team. Your organization is a joke, and thats why it's the only canadian team that doesn't sell out 100% of it's tickets.

Let's not even go on to analyze the rest of your moronic post.

Pens going to suck? Still better than the majority of teams in the east and that was without Crosby and Malkin...even with guys to sign in their bottom two lines the team is still better than most.

and then how can you even go on to talk about how Montreal will dominate... more than half their roster is UFA/RFA, and let's not forget to mention that their highest paid player couldn't even put up 40 points

I'm going to go celebrate Vancouver's 41st year without a cup while I watch the Blackhawks Stanley Cup run on blu-ray.

Ottawa has done better than almost every Canadian team in the past decade. Besides Vancouver this year, we've been the only one to win the Presidents Trophy, and we've made the payoffs more than any other I think?? I'm not totally sure, too lazy to look it up. Point being, we know how to win. We had our slump year this year, this next year is our rebuilt where we make the playoffs and lose first round, then we dominate. And of course Pittsburgh is going to head downhill.  There's no way in hell they're going to be able to keep their winning team with the salary cap. I mean, just Fleury, Crosby, and Malkin alone would take like a third of it. They just won't have the money to keep everything the way it is and thus will go downhill. Montreal certainly will do really well. They know they've got it in them. They're going to have a young team all fired up and ready to go. And Subban is going to be unreal.  And you just can't argue with Edmonton. Once they get a good defence and goalie, good luck stopping them in a year or two. And of course Ottawa will have the most difficulty selling out the arena, we're the youngest of the teams with the smallest fan base. Montreal and Toronto already dominated the fan base in Ottawa with lifetime fans in one of the smallest cities to have an NHL team. Every other city either has no fan competition, or the city is much more massive. Plus, have you been to Ottawa? All government worker nerds, place is dead most of the time. Oh and the arena is in fuckin Kanata.

what does the past have anything to do with how Ottawa will be now, the teams were completely different.


Pittsburgh has their core of players locked up, and has their entire defence corp all signed.

Not that hard to get players to sign for less, or to fill a roster when you have the best player in the game on your team.

Montreal 'knows they have it in them' what kind of logic is that to bring to an argument lol.

I Can argue with Edmonton, because yes they have a bright future, but next year isn't going to be the year where they really turn the page, still a lot of growth to be done by their young players.

Ottawa is hardly one of the smallest cities, it's in the top 12 biggest cities (not including metropolitan area) in the league.. Regardless of whether the market is full of fans from other teams, it's canada and any viable market should be able to sell out NHL level hockey.

let's just take a moment to reflect how many times Toronto has done better than Ottawa... 4. 4 seasons since Ottawa has been a team Toronto has done better. We're nearing 20 years too.
