So today I was at an arts store in Boston. I've seen a ton of awesome street art online and such and thought it'd be sick to get into. My cousin actually just graduated as an arts major and kinda talked me into buying just some Krink paint markers so I can start tagging and stuff. Tagging sounds like I'll have fun with it for awhile but I would've wanted more to buy some spray paint. Problem is, I don't know what to buy or how to even get started. If anyone has some advice out there I'd gladly like some help. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a very good artist, but I definitely learn things fast and with a little practice I can get really good at anything I put my mind too. So I definitely want to get some spray paint, let me know your thoughts on brands and such. Thanks a lot guys.
its called graffiti. its illegal. krink is way overpriced, Kr just wants money. get grog. Ninja_steez ^ i believe he is talking about, he sucks. all he does is stencils. and there is a thread on the main page of the nsg. some good and some bad artists in their.
Sorry accident double post. Draw a lot and look at different styles online . Do not bite anyone's shit! Come up with ur own style. Once you got a sketch you like get some painters touch or Rusto and find a chill place to practice get ur can control better and learn how it all works. You will need some different caps like Rusto fats ny fats and thins ect. It takes lots
If you do get into street art, make it look good and meaningful, don't just pull a " I'm going to walk down the street do lame tags on anything flat enough to draw on." Check out some iconic street artists like, Jr, Blu, Swoon, and of course Banksy... Take your time be creative and don't get caught.
Look up some graffiti laws in your state so your prepared if you do get caught, most people don't realize the severity of some charges.
Thanks for the help guys! Ya I looked up laws and stuff and shit sounds pretty serious in massachusetts. I mean up to 3 years in prison, 1 year license suspension and not to mention they can fine you up to 3 times as much as the value of what painted on.
Not sounding like the greatest idea anymore. It does sound fun though! To bad the consequences are pretty high. I have been practicing on paper a tonnn and I've been watching tons of videos and everything.
Yeah seriously dont just go around throwing up shitty stencils everywhere. Scout out walls and incorporate your stencil into them somehow. Make your stencils meaningful, detailed and clever so that people will respect them more. The thing i hate the most is when im walking down a street and i see a small little stencil of bob marley or some other dumb free stencil somebody downloaded off the internet sprayed up onto a wall. Just make sure to be creative and dont take other people's ideas. Practice a lot on poster boards or paper so you can learn how spray paint works and so that you dont leave a stencil mark on the wall. just plan your shit out and be smart
