Where and where not to live in Cleveland or Akron?

Possibly relocating to either Cleveland or Akron. I am trying to gather some basic info on these cities and their neighborhoods. Cleveland is a much bigger city, I know, but are there things going on and better places to live near Akron? Do both cities have downtown centers with safe nightlife? What are some sketchy parts that I would want to avoid? Close ski hills? Summer festivals & concerts?
Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Also, a suburb with a classic main street, great local restaurants, and townie bars would not be bad either, so if those happen to exist let me know.

Cleveland has so many awesome places to live, and an amazing atmosphere. Yes some parts can be a little sketchy around the downtown area but what city isnt? The great thing about cleveland is that you can pretty much live anywhere and get downtown in 10 mins. there are some great festivals and street fairs, amd also the house of blues and agora ballroom are always having some sick concerts n raves. PM me if you want to know anything else/ more specific details on some of the neighborhoods. you might wanna check out cleveland heights down by coventry road, that sounds like the mainstreet that ur looking for and has one of the hottest nightlifes in the area with super reasonable apartments n housing

i would choose akron over cleveland. There are some good bars and both are not as sketchy as people make it out to be. You just gotta stay away from the known areas. Also akron is a little closer to bostonmills brandywine with is the resort of choice in the area. Everyone is very friendly and have lots of fun there. If you like suburbs kent isnt a bad choice but it is a college town. It has lots of bars and is a suburb of akron and only about 45 from cleveland and 30 from the ski resorts. I live closer to akron than cleveland so i know more about that area. Tell me if you want any more info.

I'd say cleveland has more stuff to do. there's a lot of sporting events up in cleveland, more concerts, but that's expected because of the size difference.
I'd still probably rock akron because of the ski resort vicinity though.
