Duke nukem forever

Has anyone played it yet? I think it came out today. I haven't played a video game in a while but i really want to play this one.

I know there have been threads on this coming out but I could not find them.

i haven't heard many good reviews. lots of people have said it's fun for a little but that it gets old or isn't worth the money.

from the gameplay trailers and stuff it looks like the graphics and movement and all that is a little shitty when compared to the COD standard which is all i care about or play for the most part. i guess i'm just not convinced that the game will be good enough to be worth buying. the fact that it's Duke Nukem is awesome as hell and i'm sure it's funny, but buying a game to beat the campaign mode and then not having an awesome online mode to play for hours and hours afterwards makes me not want to spend the money.

with COD i feel like you really get your moneys worth because of the playtime and multiplayer. other games just don't have that in my (limited) experience.

I can honestly say it's refreshing, it's quite difficult, has enormous amounts of pop-culture references and there is a stunning amount of variety in the levels. It's the only modern FPS game I feel like actually finishing.

However, the controls are often clunky, the terrain is glitchy and most of the 'innovations' have been around since 2004. I mean, there's a goddamn see-saw physics puzzle straight from HL2, and even though the devs make fun of Halo, half-Life and such, it borrows so heavily of new FPS features and the classics it's quite ironic that it fails on so many levels.

Worth playing through, not owning.
