So I've been watching this forum for months now and delaying posting a thread until I felt I've come to a reasonable understanding of how it works and what you guys like. I'm 16 and very interested in starting into filming, at the moment just a hobby, and not planning to make a career out of it, maybe a couple of bucks if the situation comes up. But nothing major at the moment. But my friends and I are planning on doing short film for a competition this fall, we've got plan on the plot, but the filming is the part we're all very inexperienced in. I've made two videos. 1st a ski edit, its on my page and I can admit its very amateur. 2nd a video for my outdoor club at school, also amateur.
Set-up:
Camera: JVC Everio "HD", obviously not HD just good quality as i found.
Gear: PVC stabilizer "frugal filmaker", and lower end tripod $30
Editing Software: Vegas 10
I'd like to get a good feel for filming before getting into DSLR's and professional video cameras. First cause I don't know if I'll want to make that sort of money commitment. Second cause I don't have the skills to make a quality video out of them. Thoughts, ideas, tips, hate, anything, I'm just looking for something to build with. And if you have had any momumental learning experiences and wish to share I would love it.
Anything helps! I know its a long read but thank you if you did! Oh and also I'm paying for all of my stuff hence the reasonably rudimentary set up.
