That´s a pretty old setup, no idea how much it should be worth though. How much windsurfing have you done before?

only a tiny bit, like less than an hour. I competitively race sailboats though, so i am familiar with how they work and the wind and whatnot. It seems a bit expensive, but from the other boards i have looked at, its in the best shape

Cool, I wouldn´t advise buying kit straight away, you need a big floaty board for a while, then you want to change progressively smaller as you get better. I´d say hire for a while, as you will probably progress quite fast. New gear will also make it easier, plus you won´t be limited by sail size (you need to change a lot). Windsurfing can be a bitch to learn, I used to race dinghies and cats at a high level too and it took me a good few summers to be able to plane and use my harness properly.

holy shit thats insane. its either windsurfing or kiteboarding that i want to do, both look awesome but kiteboarding seems like you have to be more selective on the days you are able to go out on

Don't do it. I'm from Hood River (Columbia River Gorge), windsurfed when I was in middle school and part of high school. I kite now because it is way cool and the demographic is way younger. I fly Naish Park's 8, 10 & 12m and 134cm Naish Momentum board. Perfect setup for the whole summer. With a good setup you don't have to selective.

He's saying don't start windsurfing, because kiting is cooler and the people who do it are younger, which is half true. There are more young kiters, but frankly worrying about what's 'cool' is gay, and makes you sound like a teenage girl starting snowboarding because you saw shaun white in the olympics.
