Alright well here is the original rant basically stating that it is ridiculous that skiing is not featured in the cool new commercial from 6.0.

I grew up racing mx and riding bmx..though concrete does hurt alot mx crashes are way worse from what i have experienced.

I think he was talking about the popularity of the sport compared to other action sports, not how gnarly they are. I think skateboarding is definitely at the top of the popularity totem pole.

I honestly don't really care that skiing wasn't in there....

And although Nike could be a huge contributor in the future of our snowsports, i still feel like Nike doesn't really belong in here and should stick to the core sports they started with instead of trying to tap into new markets to try and increase profits/popularity ....

agree 100%. everyone always complaines about gettting "more money for our sport". Why?? How about just "more skiing w/ some friends" ????  FOCUS PPL we have great ski technology, great mountain access, great terrian parks, a good core group of companies that cares about freeskiing ONLY, and we have some room for ppl to start their own small ski specific businesses.  What more could u want? Sure is it fair that other athletes make more? No, ofcourse not, but thats what makes us unique!!!  In my opinion, More $ = More Problems/Drama.

fun is great and all.. I am all for your thought, but what about the $3million dollar half pipe? or the $400,000 jump line, or the new chair you wish you had in your park, I bet that costs a pretty penny. Core ski companies who make a little money for themselves, or mayybe a lot arent the ones paying for that shit, corporate sponsorship is. Nike money could go a long way... maybe.

just ride the coat tails of snowboarding! let them be the ones that sell out. haha!  i totally get what ur saying. Of course w/out money we wouldnt be here at all and its always nice to have extra so simon dumont can feel special in his cubed pipe.  Ideally,it would be nice to be where we're at on our own.  guess ur damned if you do and damned if u dont.

All this selling out talk is pissing me off.

Use that term when top skiers make 60 mill a year from participating in a hobby the like plus 300 from endorsing products from companies that they were originally against. That'd be 'selling out', going against your words or beliefs.

Getting a huge deal or cut isn't selling out. NS is a forum filled to the brim with wishy-washy hypocrites.

first of all, nike 6.0 is still sponsoring pro skiers, and even if they weren't, they would still sponsor snowboarders and therefore snowparks which would also be open to skiers ....

+ seeing how freestyle skiing is becoming more and more popular and i see snowparks getting bigger and better year after year, i honestly don't think we should be afraid that our sport going down, even better, our sport is growing and every year we have new talent and new people giving it a try....

i am personally fine with other companies putting money into our sport, one of my home mountains, mount seymour has received thousands and thousands of dollars in new features and money to go towards improving the parks just by having their parks named after their company and using their logo.

When you tell people that you are a skier that image pops into their head and they think, "wow that shit is lame as fuck, why don't you snowboard or something?" Now the REAL problem is that half of the snowboarding community hates its multimillion Olympic/Xgames counterparts and there is a huge divide. We don't have that to nowhere near the degree of snowboarding, but I guarantee that it will happen if "park skiing" as we know it goes commercial.
