Clearly my misguided young tenderfoot, you don't get it! I'm not all together sure you fully understand biomechanics or common sense... First off NO argument! The comparisons are endless! They both consist of gliding in a forward or backward manner. What would you call the action you make while skiing across a flat section towards a lift? I always thought it was called skating. Am I mistaken?
http://www.iisa.org/resources/skate-to-ski.htm I hate to tell you this but rollerblades were originally made in the 80's as Ski cross trainers! I was there. I remember. Ski shops were one of the main suppliers of rollerblades in the early 90's. The first grind on Rollerblades was also in the early 90's! A while before the invention of the Ski-Board, the Poacher, or the Ten Eighty!, When Skiers were still skiing forwards 99% of the time, with there feet together, on straight skis! Before skiing looked to snowboarding for a much needed face lift and started using sidecut! That is when the game started changing, skiing started to look more like what we see now... Rollerbladers were already spinning flipping and grinding in ways much like skiers do now! The problem with that is Rollerblading now hardly resembles what it was then, unfortunately SKIING kinda does, at least when it comes to wacky, style lacking, switch ups! I am not trying to say there are no exceptions. I see plenty of stylish skiers out there. It gets crazier every season! It's kind of funny to me the way you seem to see things. I don't think I know everything by any means but I have worked in the ski industry since '96. For me, someone who; ski's, skateboard's, snowboard's and of course ROLLERBLADE's it's ALL about having FUN! Although for me it's hard not to compare the two winter sports with there wheeled summer counterparts. As far as Grindplates and Skiboards are concerned they have often been an offering made available by several different manufacture's over the years. Skiboards are still available these days and now there are a few more companies working on better soul plates then what was available in the past. I'm stoked to see what new stuff the next few season's bring! So I guess I'll have my say. Oh and you'll have to deal with the fact that SALOMON is a PATHETIC attempt of a corporation trying to make money off of the popularity of Rollerblading and Skiboarding which they fucking failed horribly at. Corporations only care about happy share holders!
Maybe that's why they drop extraordinarily skilled athletes that don't come in first at every contest...
