Chin Shaving.

Again I find myself asking NSG the important, life altering questions which have always bugged me.

I'm not particularly hirsute so I've never really thought that hard about shaving; haven't been doing it that long and don't really have to do it that often. Nobody showed me how, I just bought a razor one day and started doing it. I mean its not exactly rocket science.

Well mostly not rocket science. I can get a great clean close shave all over my face and neck EXCEPT for my damn chin. What gives? Is this like the donald trump combover? Do I have to go left, back, right, forward and back again?

Is there some trick to a clean chin shave? I'm using a Gillette Fusion, the normal one, not the battery version and some regular Gillette shaving cream?

I feel like this is something they should have taught me back in man school.

Shorter strokes, always follow the grain. Go against that shit man, and you'll be in pain.

Wash the razor out a bunch, flush it down the drain. Follow my advice nukka, there's a lot to gain.

lol, awesome.

your chin dosnt really have a grain, but go from top to bottom forsure.

i like to take a towel and run the hottest water possible i can tolerate, put that on your skin for about 10 seconds, then shave your chin. i think it opens your pours and your hairs stand up straighter. give that a whirl.

don't shave, grow a nasty beard!

but yeah, short strokes, downward, rinse after every stroke

try shower shaving, first time i did it i was hooked :)

only tricky to keep the mirror from fogging up....

straight down in short strokes, then when you get most of the hair off, go across. like from your sideburns down your jawline and across the chin. you dont want to do that with a lot of hair though. going against the grain fucking hurts like a bitch. thats just how you get the close shave to get that nice smooth look. i always do short strokes everywhere except my neck, where i start at my jawline and go straight down as far as i need to along my throat. when you get into the neck region, look up, too, and jut your chin out. itll tighten up the skin so you arent shaving a loose neck.

Follow the flow of your chin down to your neck, then short strokes to clean up. Get an exfoliator and wash your face with it with hot water before hand, opens pores and gets rid of dead skin so you dont clog your razor up with gross dead skin. Also, shave in the shower, the hot moisture does wonders to your pores and makes it SOO much more comfortable.

fuck shaving. When i shave i always go down but then after i get the majority of the hair gone there is still a little hair that i am forced to go upwards with.

But for the chin, put your neck up and stretch the skin so its more exposed. always works for me

Can somebody help me out?

I get razor burn/break out from any type of shaving unless i just use my head trimmer. I even have an electric razor thing like the pic above and i'll still break out from it so i refuse to ever use anything but the trimmer.

Problem is that it doesn't get close and I have to wear a shirt and tie everyday and should be close shaved. Anybody else have that problem with super sensitive skin...? help!

my neck always get annihilated every time i shave practically. The most important thing seems to be using an electric razor and good shaving cream, and neutrogenia after shave balm for extra sensitive skin. that stuff is the key for me.

i always get razor burn around my groin when i do go the odd time shaving down there.

I agree with the after shave balm, never had any irritation when I use that. But i can't use electric razors. I like a close shave and they just dont compare to a normal razor. Plus you have to go over the same spot so many times just to get the hair cut.

This. I use this after i shave because i breakout all the time afterwards. I use this after and before i go out and I'll throw on a neutrogenia acne cream before I go to sleep and it keeps my skin from breaking out.

i personally prefer an electric razor, but for economies sake currently use a fusion or mach or gigabyte or something to that effect. I agree though the electrics have their drawbacks. either way its wicked hot water, a really good shaving cream, and neutragena extra sensitive after shave balm.

I used to have that problem. Here is what you do: shave after a hot shower, when your pores are open. Exfoliate your skin with a washcloth to remove any dead skin that might cause it to become ingrown. Shave as you normally would with a sharp razor. When you are done, rinse with cold water so it closes the pores before the hair becomes ingrown.

But seriously, go with the grain, use shaving cream and a good moisturizer after your done. it's what works for me.

i always shave IN the shower. it's the shit. i dont even use shaving cream. it's all about rubbing some soap on your face and givin'r. in the shower i just take the opportunity to shave everything, so i guess i may as well hit my face, too. i just even up the sideburns once im out, and make sure i didn't miss any spots.
