Basically, there are rules against dancing and other shit at the national monuments, which I think is perfectly appropriate.

the rule isnt against "dancing".. the rule is against protesting/picketing/gathering. How would you feel if you were a black family trying to mourn the loss of your dad at "the wall" and the KKK was allowed to sit there and yell at you? can you really not read that far into this? its just like protesting in a cemetery.. just not good

Yeah it would be different if they were protesting or blatantly disrespecting the memorial, but they were just dancing. Dancing is a peacful art

So that's your argument for how this is justified? Because dancing at the Jefferson memorial is equated to KKK protesting black people (what the fuck does that even mean?). There is absolutely no justifying this.

first off- clearly there was more to that then what you saw on film. They were likely asked several times to stop what they were doing, and refused. I don't know the laws in that specific place, but if an officer asks you to stop what you're doing, then fucking stop it.

Those other guys got exactly what they had coming too. Mocking the cops in front of them, trying to cause a scene and give them problems.

What was the problem with NOT dancing there.

its a fucking law.. the job of the police is to enforce the law. While that isnt the original reason that that law was created, they are still breaking the law and therefore the police are forced to take action. To tell you the truth if I was on a trip to the monument and there were a bunch of idiots running around dancing around it I really wouldnt be all that happy anyways

I deffinitly see what your saying but cops these days take the law waaay to serious. The goverment and police are there for the people not for there selves. Cops back in the day (80s era) had it rite. While someone is breaking the law, but not to the extreme that the law was placed there for they should not be punished to the full extent of that law. For example i hang out with a bunch of older guys like my dad and his friends and when they would get in trouble for say speeding and they were tipsy or drunk but not driving recklessly the cops would take there keys and lock them in the trunk and tell them to call a friend to come get them. Now if you get pulled over for the smallest thing and had a beer or two you are punished to the full extent. If police just used common since when dealing with an issue they could so who is really a bad person or someone that just messed up by accident and delt with it in that perspective i would have no issue because there doing whats rite for that person which they should. I cant really type the point that im trying to get at but you should be able to catch the jist of it. Cops these days act like power thriving assholes not like cops.

yes but it's illegal what the cops are doing, it's illegal for cops to do that (be so violent). And you can clearly tell the dancing man is intoxicated, The cops were being to aggressive, they could have at least gave them a warning, or asked them to leave please.

Dude, don't pretend that drinking and driving is no big deal. If you leave the cesspool that is NSG and look in Ski Gabber you might notice that Jon Brogan was recently in an accident involving alcohol and driving. That shit is not to be taken lightly. There are cases where the police should use common sense and just give gentle warnings, cars and alcohol are not included in these scenarios.

I once got a disturbing the peace ticket for singing a Michael Jackson song out of a car window. Best part was that we were stopped at a light and bicycle cops pulled us over and called in for backup.

The "fucking law" doesn't mean it's just. How are they breaking the law, anyway? There wasn't a flash mob, it was a couple swaying and hugging. The other dudes dancing were doing it as civil disobedience to the ridiculous interpretation and enforcement of the law. Do you honestly believe that the police were justified in how they handled the original couple? How about body slamming a guy who was just standing?

Nobody cares if you would be happy with other people enjoying themselves, anyway.

1) I can understand a law pertaining to no dancing as in like people walk in blasting music and disrespecting the memorial.

2) the couple at the beginning did no such thing as dancing, maybe light swaying, the fuck?

3) no PDA charge applies because he didnt actually kiss her and PDA is more then kising

4) were the guys there who started dancing afterwards just bystanders who stuck up fr these people and prettty much shitting on these cops? (if so good for them)

5) old man does have freedom of speech so good for him
