that speech he says at minute 1, does anybody know how it finished? kind of interested in how that finished..

just for those who dont know, the booing and snowballs thrown was because in his 3rd hit he didnt do a sick run since he had already won the event.. (just like bobby with the back flip in last years xgames big air)

Well, I mean, I'd be pretty pissed too. Basically everyone who attended that contest thought Simon should have won. I don't go to professional sporting events to watch semi professional style runs. Not hating, and honestly, i would not have boo'd myself. But i can see why the people did it.

My memories foggy since that shit was 3 years ago...

but I believe that vid is edited out of order. The casual run from T was a victory lap since he went after simon and had already secured the gold.

He gave props to dumont for absolutely killing it and acknowledge that to the untrained eye going huge looks cooler than tech runs. The judges rewarded T cause he spun both ways and grabbed all his tricks which dumont didn't. He basically gave props to the judges for paying attention and was disappointed that the crowd in aspen acted the way they did and didn't recognize the potential future of pipe skiin

1) He is always super stoked on skiing.
2) He is one of the greatest at skiing pipe.
3) He helped found Armada, a badass freeskiing brand when there wasn't alot of popularity.
4) He makes some sick video segments, whether it be park jumps, rails, or big mountain.
5) He has practically broken most of his lower body and still has the willpower to come back and ski. Alot of these "new" guys would have quit a long time ago.
6) He is crazy as fuck, and gives bored people like yourself something to talk about.
7) He is one of the VERY FEW to excel in all areas of skiing, he isn't just some one-trick-pony like almost every other skier out there today. Oh and did I mention he has style? Yes, he has that too.

8) And yes, he did help make freeskiing popular. So shut up you fucking sarcastic cocksucker, and give Tanner the respect you give all the other pros who have helped the sport.

yes let's boo a rider for just doing his run. i mean it's really the rider's fault for skiing well and getting judged for it even though his run didn't appeal to the crowd, especially his victory run! when it comes down to it, it's all about pleasing the crowd and not about the sport itself or the athletes themselves...

How is it not the same? Just because it isn't everyones golden boy Bobby Brown? There really is no difference. He had it secured, and did a mediocre run after the craziest session ever. I am not saying people should have boo'ed at Bobby, but really its kinda the same.

This reminds me of 2009 big air. Jon did harder tricks, but the greater X Games audience didn't know what was up. Not their fault; they're not involved with the sport.

yeah i remember that, pretty shitty that people would take skiing that seriously. when i watch the x games i just want to see skiers throw down and i literally dont give a shit who wins or not. i look forward to casabons run each year even though i know for a fact hes not going to win. not super relevant but whatever

im not sure how many here were registered or lurking back then, but right around that time and a couple of years earlier it was very in vogue to hate on tanner. some threads about him got the same responses that mcmurrays threads get. i can still remember popular opinion slowly changing, and its interesting to see that from that video. I can still remember those threads about the snowballs... as I remember that might have been the turning point where people began to like him...
