Take care on the roads in NZ this winter

Just wanted to remind everyone (locals and tourists) to be safe on the road and on the mountain this winter.

There's a growing attitude that what happens in NZ stays in NZ with respect to driving. Some of the driving in a lot of the edits last year made me cringe (A lot of it exhibited by sponsored professionals). Our roads aren't particularly safe at the best of times, less so in winter.

Please respect the laws of our country and drive to the conditions. No one wants to see you get hurt or hurt someone else.

Remember there's a time and a place for everything; a gravel road on the side of a mountain with no armco is not it. Get your thrills on the slopes, not on the road!

Looking forward to seeing you all down here, gonna be a sick winter.

That's not really what I think the OP was getting at, thats just some good fun and not a danger to anyone but Lesh and his passenger.

It's the driving up the actual mountain roads that are the problem, they are crazy at the best of times, and people have died on them in the past. If you've been up them you will know what I mean. What we don't need is someone trying to drift up and down them and making them far more dangerous than they already are.

They were also rallying up the Snowpark road in the same Subaru and possibly another?

Yeah the mountain roads in New Zealand are crazy. Most years you will hear about someone going off the side of the road. One of the day I was at Mt Hutt last year a car went off the access road and went down a good 200ft of steep terrain, killing the driver.

I like what Lesh did, but totally agree I would not want to play chicken with someone trying to drift corners on a sketchy mountain road with no guard rail.

This year my Subaru will have anti-lag, so I can drive the Turoa road even fasterer!

(Except actually the car will stay in 'Kune and we'll take the beat up old Pajero up the road)

OP is absolutely right. The roads up the mountains in NZ are so dangerous. No trees to stop you if you go off the side either.

I'll be in Wanaka in July (9th to the 15th) so I'll be skiing snowpark, TC and cardrona. Short trip but worthit. Booked flights 2 nights ago as a spur of the moment thing. If you're skiing there say hi. I'll be wearing all Armada gear. Lavender pants and Lavender/black jacket, white giro shiv and skiing on Ar6s.

I remember that day. Ended up getting stuck in the carpark after they closed the road, so had to wait until it was cleared. Even them so many idiots crashed or ended up in the ditches. Took 3.20 to get down the hill!

It's always funny when you have to put chains on though, you usually see a tourist in a rental car taking their chains off at the Kawarua bridge or Frankton.

In regards to dipshit drivers on the roads, remember traffic goes in two directions. I don't want to meet said dipshit drifting on a blind corner
