What are some good ones near the Seattle Area? I really want to get some camping in this summer, but I don't know of any good places. I'm willing to drive out pretty far (olympics) but not like eastern WA

if your into backpacking, Sheep lake is one of my fav spots, its a badass little place with very little traffic, your usually alone with maybe one other camper somewhere in the distance on a busy day, its basically a little alpine lake along the pct right outside of rainier park.

i know it looks like it would be hard to camp on the beaches from the pics, but i promise theirs dry sand and a shitload of driftwood (to occupy yourself, and huge ass bonfires), hahah. you can't go wrong with any of the three, ther my fav spots for sure.

shi shi beach is one of the coolest places...its pretty close to neah bay..which is like 4 hours from seattle maybe? really nice little wooded camping spots all along the beach, gorgeous sunets, and tide pool adventuring for milesss. I have been going there since I was a little kid. Not a bad hike in at all either...it gets kind of muddy on the trail but thats the worst of it.

If youre not scared of a little cold water go to urban surf in seattle rent a surfboard and wetsuit for 25$ bucks a day and explore the coast. check wannasurf.com for info on surf spots other than hobuck lapush and westport. the surfing is great in washington and the scenery/camping is even better. And although mapquest says neah bay is four hours driving time it isnt because of the roads its usually closer to five plus but that area is excellent hobuck is one of my favorite surf spots.

There is not really a whole lot in the way of camping right now due to massive amounts of

snow in the mountains, i have been calling the forest service to see whats open and in reality

there are only 2 good distance camping trips near where i live (bellingham) so i would assume

not much more is open down south. Second and third beach are both awesome trips and short

hikes in probably one of your best bets.
