I borrowed my parents boat a few summers back when I was 16 or so and me and a couple friends sailed around from Maine down to Long Island, stopping at good surf spots and we also brought along our windsurfers. Possibly some of the best times of my life

Sebago Lake in Maine is fun. Hiking in Maine and New Hampshire is cool like Katahdin and the White Mountains. Islands off the coast of Maine are the best.

new england is awesome don't take it for granted. so many awesome places to go--really depends on where you are, but there's definitely something cool to do within a half hour drive from wherever you are....swimming holes, hiking, whateva, just enjoying being outside in a great place

And for the record, New England is great. I used to hate Maine when I moved here, but after spending a few years exploring and finding amazing places here, I love it.

have you ever been to the midwest? new england is the tits. there are great places to do pretty much anything and everything outdoorsy. one thing people haven't mentioned yet is surfing if you're into that. if you're not, then just go hiking/camping/climbing/etc. somewhere. do the long trail in vt or part of the AT or something. the possibilities are endless

Where in New Englad do you live?

NYC and Boston are both major cities with lots to do.

If you are 18 get a passport and road trip up to Montreal and go to all the awesome clubs and bars up there.

Bar Harbor/Mount Dessert Island in Maine is awesome.

Hike a portion of the Applachian Trail. Theres some really nice parts up in New Hampshire. Mount Washington is also an awesome place to go in New Hampshire.

Cape Cod can be fun.

The new paltz/ woodstock area of New York has some cool shit goin on. Awesome rock climbing.

Rhode Island has decent beaches.

I realize not all of these places are actually in New England, but they are all within a reasonable drive depending on where in NE you live.

I live in Western Mass. Used to live in NYC. Whenever I go there I always end up just shopping and moping around. Fun enough, but I want to find something else to do there. Similar situation with boston. Obviously living in the berkshires most of my life I've done my fair share of hiking, camping, swimming (the classic new england activities) Unfortunately I'm only 17 so no Cannadian partying for me. I understand New England is great for the outdoors, but what are some specific places that absolutely blew your mind. Oh and I rollerblade. Anyone know of any sick skateparks worth making a trip to from western MA?

Been to the Vineyard and the Cape. Great places but can get a wee bit pricey as far as sleeping. Anyone know of good places to camp on the vineyard?

Have you been to skaters edge?

If you're looking for an outdoorsy spot to blow your mind go to Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island in Maine. The top of Cadillac Mountain is the first place to see the sun rise in the US. If you can get up early enough for it your mind will be blown. Also there is a cool little beach there (the water is fucking freezing though), some good hiking and biking, awesome rock climbing, and Bar Harbor is a fun town to just kick it in.

Burlington is pretty cool. the lake rent a boat and go tubing wakeboarding waterskiing, you could go to red rocks and jump off or go to the swimming holes in the mad River valley (Waitsfield, Warren) and hit up the swimming holes their. If you want to go ski try the Beach at Whaleback resort

if you actually think New England is boring, then leave. but if you want to find some of the beauty of the region, there is plenty to find. White Mountains of NH, Greens of VT, Katahdin in Maine are all great areas for hiking.
In NH you can go to the whites, hike around the pemigewasset area or go to hampton beach for some surfing and the trashiness of the state.
In VT, you have the greens for hiking, but areas like Middlebury and Vergennes are beautiful areas. The NEK has some sick stuff too, and really funky areas. Lake Willoughby is an area i always wanted to go to but was never able to. And of course Burlington and Lake Champlain, along with the northern champlain islands are all amazing places.
Maine has an amazing coast with surfing and Acadia ntl park. i dont know maine well though.
in MA, you have Boston, the Cape, and the Berkshires out west are beautiful and have some great hiking.
in CT...i have no idea whats nice there.
RI has some sick surfing, and Newport is cool too if you have any interest in sailing.

Just get out there and explore and you/ll find places you like and places you dislike. if you like hiking or biking, go to an area that has great spots for it. same with surfing. NE really has it all, you jsut have to find it

This. I spent last summer moving between Boston and Cape Cod/ Nantucket/ Martha's Vineyard/ Rhode Island, and it was the best, most interesting summer ever. There's so much to see and do if you know where to look. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

this is a great skatepark it is in central CT and has a great vibe to the skate park. Bristol is kinda sketchy in certain parts but its really fun place. i have meet people there from philly that come up here 4 times a summer just to skate this park! I love camping around lake george, or on one of the islands in the summer. It is one of the most beautiful lakes ever and you can go cliff dive off of calvespen. I love lake george.

Lived here for 15 years. If you can name one hike I havent done, one lake I havent swam in, or anything outdoorsy for that matter I will give you tons of $$$$$$$$. To the guy talking skaters edge I went all the way out their once but didnt have my waiver notarized so I got kicked. One of the worst days of my life.

Sebago Lake, Deer Isle, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, plenty of places in Kennebunk where I live, Portland, Katahdin, Acadia, Peak's Island, Chebeague Island... I never run out of amazing places to go. There are such scenic and interesting places everywhere here.
