Marker Griffons

i think im gona get the Griffons next year, dont know how they are but i havent heard anything bad about them, i had pivots and they sucked ass. i broke 3 toe and 2 heel pieces and they would just fall out all the time. i changed the din and the side things, and had them mounted on diff skiis and they just never worked

They are a super light binding, however I found with mine they wore down pretty fast. Like they haven't exploded or anything but the contact points on the heel are pretty worn down after only one season of use. Considering how expensive they are, I would go with a more durable binding like the tyrolia 15/18, sth 16, or any fks, all bindings you can get a fair price and will last you much longer than markers. Plus they are all have more safety features. (Assuming you are in the DIN range of those bindings of course, I just assumed you were seeing as you have 177 cm skis.)

My brother has them on a set of gotamas, they are a good binding, yet they can tend to pre-release a bit, i'd go with jesters if they fit your DIN range, I have them on my walls and they rip and don't cost a fortune if you destroy a brake.

I've got Marker Griffins on my 177 Line Afterbangs....prob used for about 50days this past season. They are light weight and I never had problems with pre-release! I ski them on 10 - if you need higher DIN then get Jesters.
The shorted toe piece reduces swing wait so make a good park binding.

you could also look at Head Mojos?

I, and about 10 million other people, reckon Pivots (or FKS, same diff) are pretty much the best binding on the market right now. Maybe your shop just didn't know how to set them up right? I've had mine all kinds of sideways and they don't come off unless I really needed them to.
