Charles Gagnier wtf ?

this guy was the first one to have the four 900, the four 1080s (in redtape).
He was one of the first if not the first to do nose-mute grabs (back in 2005 at the tignes airwaves)
He invented the octograb.
He won the X games.
He won the US open big air with a switch 12 octo (which is still nuts in my mind) in 07.
He was one of the first to do those crazy broken grinds.
He invented the Caribou (same, tignes airwaves...)
He ABSOLUTELY SLAYS any urban. Probably shreds some of the gnarliest rails.

His latest trick, is the Switch rodeo 540, air pretzel 180. way more crazy than any dub 12 you ll ever see.

He kills it so hard.

He 's one of the nicest guys you ll ever meet.

He hasn't had ski sponsor all season.

what the fuck ?

give this guy some exposure, so he can showcase his skills a little more, and show something different.

I respect Gagnier a ton. Watching him do all 4 10's in a row absolutely blew my mind when I saw it. Whatever happened with Salomon?

he's one of my least favorite skiers to watch, looks like he's always about to explode.

Huh, that's what I thought.

That's really weird. Over the course of the like 6 years I've been really into freestyle skiing, Gagnier has always been a mystery to me. He would pop up on the scene, throw the craziest tricks, win events, and showcase skiing to it's "full potential," but I never like... connected with him? If that makes any sense. No disrespect whatsoever, but I just didn't see any sort of personality accompanying him. He was always just "that french guy who spins really fast" to me. Especially in the past few years, I feel like he's plummeted off the scene. Maybe I'm just completely missing something, but I have an inkling that this could be related to his lack of a sponsor? He's clearly more talented than 95% of sponsored skiers, he's in the highest echelon of "pro-status," but I never really hear from or about him...

Any thoughts?

have you ever seen charles ski in a park ?

he probably has one of the largest variety of grabs, from leading mute to the sweetest leading tail you ll ever see.

he was competing in WSI big a month ago and i can tell you he has not disappeared off the scene, he was killing it. he just doesnt have any sponsors, cause he s too next level for the average skier like you to watch...

and watch out for vincent also.

VS a blunt or a mute today? I think the octo grab is the sweetest grab in the book. Dude hasn't been out of the game that long. He wore the G suit the year before it came out.

And to not having a sponsor, go figure Salomon drops some pro that isn't on the competitive scene anymore.

Did Salomon really drop him? They really don't have a great track record when it comes to dropping influential riders from Quebec...Vincent Dorion, Philou Poirier and now Charles. Disappointing.

Charles is the illest.  always been a huge fan of him. his switch 12 octo in the us open big air was completely insane.  best trick ever. anybody got video of that? did salomon seriously drop the kid?. they have always been whack tho, they just suck peoples dicks to get dew tour podiums and then if they dont they throw them to the curb...pfft ahahah

I don't like his style. And there are much better skiers in my opinion. But he is good and it is definitely shitty that Salomon dropped him.

If what you claim is true and this guy no longer has a sponsor, than that is really unfortunate.

He has done a lot for the sport, and has rediculous skill. Met him at IF3 last summer and like people in this thread have mentioned, he's such a nice guy.

I thought him and his brother placed really well at WSI big air this year?

Wish him all the best and hopefully a ski sponsor comes to their senses and hooks this guy up.

when i first got into skiing he was the illest guy in the game, and was the first skier i really looked up to. i really hope he can get a sponsor!

I hear the general consensus from photographers is that he's one of the best riders to shoot. He always gets the grab and tweaks it hard. I remember his segment is Skimatic being epic. I think that had shots of his 4 1080s.

Can someone find me the shot/video/edit of him doing that flip to revert? It was like a flip, can't remember what exactly, where his landing would be wack, like a 180 revert or someshit. I think it was from last season, or maybe the season before.

i like what he says at the 5 minute mark and it's something a lot of kids really lose sight of on this forum. he says something like, "there's more than one way to progress the sport and everyone should do there own thing and push their friends" or something like that. people hate on certain aspects of the sport, like the cult following that supports b-dog hates on the Bobby's of the sport that go out and toss triples and progress the sport in that manner and vice versa when it comes to the style aspect. there are so many different directions that skiing can and should go, and for people to give each other shit for heading in different directions is outrageous.

he just got unlucky with a couple trends. he doesn't double, he doesn't do boner switch landings, and for the most part he doesn't dance on rails. but his in air style and grabs are dope, and he can slide rails that probably nobody else can.

also he was doing ill 50-50 variations way before phil casabon made them cool

I definitely see what your saying. I always thought he was a dope skier but i never liked him as much as some of the other pros. Maybe because of his style or just that fact that his personality isnt as outgoing as the others. But still a dope ass skier in my mind

Andreas Hatveit did one at X-games that the judges didnt seem to notice, I don't think I've ever seen Gagnier dub...
