Got arrested for possession of marijuana

title says it all.

has anyone else gone through this process, and if so what can I expect? How long will I be on probation for, and how much money will i have to pay in fines/court costs/etc.

I am moving to a different town in the fall for school. How will this affect my probation?

under 18? i was under 18 when i was caught for possesion. Instead of court, my town has jcc (juvenile council crap or something). They made me take a couple classes on why "drugs are bad". But of course, they fucked up and never told me when i had to go to the first set so in their computers it said i skipped and had a warrant out for a little bit. thats always fun. But yeah, its bullshit

not even all the time, a cop rolled up on me and a couple friends and obviously could smell and see we were smoking a joint, all he asked is that we stepped 10 or so feet away from the bus stop. a lot of the time they don't care in the slightest if your not disturbing anyone and are polite to them.

wow thats harsh, i had a quarter on me once and they just made me stomp it into the dirt; and only a warning. it felt like i was stomping and infants head into the dirt :(

alright everyone wants the story. I was driving up the road, and came to a three way stop sign. This is in my neighbor hood, so i am very aware that the stop sign is there. I am also very aware that the stop sign should be a yield sign, and that no one ever takes it seriously (the whole neighbor hood bitches about the sign, shouldn't even be there in the first place, it is seriously the most pointless stop sign ever). Any way, I rolled through the stop sign (yes I attempted to stop, just didn't come to a complete perfect drivers training stop). An undercover cop was parked about 500 yards up the road; the cop saw me do this and started to follow me. I had a bag of some real dank chronic and my bowl in the middle compartment of my car. All of a sudden the cop gets right on me and puts his lights on. I pulled over and got my insurance and license ready. The cop walks up and said "I am pulling you over because you did not come to a complete stop at that sign, and I need to your license and registration". I handed him the stuff, and then he says, "I am getting strong wiffs of dope coming from the car, I will ask you once if you have anything on you that you shouldn't, and regardless of how you answer I have probable cause to searching the vehicle". So i was straight with him and said yeah i have some marijuana in the car. Next thing I know I am in hand cuffs in the back of his car on the way to jail. All of this over some bull shit 2 gram bag of weed. The cop was extremely ignorant, un-educated, and hypocritical. I am extremely aggravated that a person whom I did not vote for/ had no say in their appointment to authority, can have such an impact on my life. I was hoping he would give me a break since i was the most corporative person every, and caused no problems. the only thing that he could muster up was that he would give me an opportunity to sit down with a narcotics officer and work a deal. I told him that in no way was i commenting on where i got the weed, so that would be a waste of everyone's time. He pulled me over on a curved part of the road. All of a sudden a tow truck pulls up, and I say whats the deal with this why are you towing my car. and he says we can't leave it parked on a curve in the road. and i said, well i live one minute from here, can i call someone and have them pick it up. cop goes well if you wouldn't have mentioned that earlier i would let that happen, but the tow truck is here so its to late. and i said well you said nothing about towing my car earlier so how was i supposed to know that i was supposed to tell you that. his response, "don't do drugs and this wont happen". fuck ignorant people, and fuck injustice

all factors point to you being a fuckin moron. not because you got caught, but your reasoning, justification, and rationalization are that of a 15 year old. im not saying this to be a dick, but i was in a similar position when i was 16. 2 misdemeanor charges, but they set my bail at 15gs, 3months-1year, and 3-5years probation. after i did a week in jail, month in rehab,and year of probation they took away all my charges, cleared all my points on my drivers license, and only gave me a year probation only once a month. however, i had a truly dickhead cop, who decided to try to intimidate me with guns, and once he realized that wasnt working punched my in the balls and smashed me head against a brick wall...

maybe shit will work out in your favor.

B) nothing you said made the cop sound like a hypocrite. At all.
C) I can't begin to express how stupid you sound. You think that since this cop wasn't elected and you didn't vote him into his position that he shouldn't be able to arrest you for the several crimes you committed? Yeah that sounds like a good way to run law enforcement.

I agree, while the cop did have the ability to use discretion and perhaps not have your car towed, but the cop had literally nothing to do with the writing or making of the laws you broke. Only the enforcement of them which you blatantly broke. Its a shitty situation and a bummer you got caught, but when you break the law you have got to know the possible consequences of getting caught.

criminal mischief and "reckless driving"...i lived in upstate new york.

the cops wanted to make an example out of me...and they did.

in jail i watched 2 cops rush the cell next to me, cuff him, break his elbow, cheek, and pepper spray his asshole and balls....all while he was writing a letter to his family after his brother had just hung himself.

pretty sweet justice system we have here.

I think its bullshit that "smelling" "dope" is grounds for probable cause. Any fucktard cop can say " I smell dope." there needs to be a more strict law on how a cop has probable cause. Maybe where ever your at is different than Idaho and Utah but it just doesn't seem right that a cop can smell something and be able to search your car.


I all reality every cop has every right to make a judgement call, this is why I hate every cop I have ever been encountered.
