its marc faber, a billionare hedge fund manager, who really knows his stuff.

He basically believes that most governments in the world will end up defaulting eventually.

I think many will, such as the P.I.I.G.S.  (portugal, ireland, italy, greece, spain...  but I have a hard time thinking that all economies will default.

The point i wanted to make is that when economies do fail and the world goes to war, AMERICA is where you want to be. Our military can take on the rest of the world combined. So even if you are not proud of that, you fucking better well be thankful for it.

Part of what the first 2 world wars were about were because technology was reaching the point where because of nuclear weapons and jet aircraft, icbms, it became very feasable for the world to be under control by 1 country forever. Hitler probly realized that, and many think that the united states entered the war because they knew that too.

but anyways, i think the reason the us dollar has not completely collapsed under the printing press is because the united states military  is 10 times as capable as the rest of the world combined. So yeah, bring it kim jong, bring it china, bring it russia,   we will fuck you up if you ask us to pay you back.

Are you meaning Nazi Germany? They would be the Germany in control after WW2. Therefore every non-Aryan person would be at a disadvantage. Chances are the world would be a TERRIBLE place with small pockets of resistance everywhere. The Third Reich would have been the worst thing ever to happen.

The U.S. is in no way the leader amongst countries today. Military power does not mean anything. China supplies the U.S. with over 80% of products. Military advances on China would be far from smart. It would all result in nuclear warfare which would destroy both countries. Imagine a nuclear bomb hitting NYC or LA. The U.S. would not take that risk so in the end its a useless threat or false notion of "power".

Nah we know 60% is an exaggeration but that thing you just posted is the percent of GDP.  It's irrelevant to the total government expenditure.  And also, anything greater than 5% is a good amount of money being spent.

Also remember that spending has gone up.  When spending on other stuff goes up and % expenditure for GDP stays the same, it means more money is being put into it.

i didnt say WW2 germany, i said germany today. the fact that this joke of a country called "america" takes money away from families and redistributes it to people who dont even speak the proper english language... I mean how stupid do you have to be in order to not see that america is a broken promise to itself...just as japan is a broken promise to itself... capitalist havens like america, will continue to spring up. The new america is in places like australia, singapore, and germany. america needs 10 times more marc zuckerbergs than we currently have in order to afford to pay for all the free lunches we have in america. America is dead... the cancer of socialism killed america a long time ago...people mistake this new cancer to be the same america that we used to have... its just silly. anybody with half a brain has moved their money out of american banks and to healthy markets like singapore and germany... i mean can you believe someone as left as obama, and he still has not ended the stupid war on drugs? haha

You have absolutely no idea what your talking about when it comes to the financial relationship between the Untied States and China. For the matter, economics in general. China isn't "mad" at the United States for not being able to pay them back. The united states has been a source of financial entrepreneurship for the the past quarter century, which has created an undeniably large source of wealth for the global economy as a whole. Every day, countries, just like china invest huge amounts of money in us treasury securities or bonds if you will that fiance everyday government spending. It's not about china being scared of the Untied States because they are a school yard bully you cant get your lunch money back from, or that they are giving money out of charity, but instead because they offer a vast source of financial engineering, innovation and investment that China along with a host of other countries can't ignore.

Sorry for the double post, but this is also ridiculous. Google "reagonomics" and look at the last 25 years up until this day in the history of the U.S' financial industry. Not a lot has changed, even post credit crisis.

with out a doubt, USA would win a regular war against any other nation, but imo there will be no more "regular" wars between countries. wars will become even dirtier, with nuclear, biological and chemical weapons launched on missiles where no direct contact between the two fighting nations takes place.

to be quite honest, i think if there will be a world war 3, it will definitely be the last, because it will probably kill most people on this planet and contaminate it for millions of years. it wont matter who wins world war 3 because after it, the world will not be worth living on. the only solution is to get rid of all nuclear weapons.

a common mistake i see, is that through your arrogant attitude you seem to under estimate your opponents. russia along with china and iran together is definitely enemies i would consider on par with the US.

military budgets world wide should be cut down drastically. that money could be used to help so much people.

60%? We spend a fair amount on defense but there's no reason to pull some bullshit number out of your ass. Here are some charts for you. Do they all correlate? No. Do any of them show anywhere near 60% of our budget being spent of defense? Definitely not.

While it's fun to flag-wave and dick swing, someday we're going to realize we can't buy our way out of a defecit by blowing up countries and then rebuilding them.

Let's fix a fucking road, expand our highway/rail system and better our domestic infastructure.  Or maybe spend some dough on healthcare instead of killing people.  It's like we keep trying to save the world when our own country is bouncing checks trying to buy groceries.  It makes no sense to me.

Yes.  I was watching TV the other day and saw correspondents talking about stuff the republicans absolutely, 100% WILL NOT allow to happen in the coming political shitstorm...  The Bush tax cuts being rescinded was one of them. 

Why congress and the senate are so steadfast in protecting the top 3% of the income bracket from being minutely less rich is beyond me.  Whoever posted the pie charts above, can you find the number that this would bring in?  It was an astronomical number, I can't remember what it was exactly and don't want to fuck it up but it blew my mind to hear how much the richest people in the country are allowed to skirt taxation and the republican side's vitriol in protecting it.

its all relative man. thats why i threw the GDP figure out there, it puts it into a better comparison. you could also look up a list of countries by health care expenditures im sure, or infrastructure  expenditures and im sure we are at the top of both of those lists as well doesnt mean by any means we need to cut it down, this is simply because of how wealthy our nation is in comparison to other nations in the world (no need to bring up the budget issue and the debt ceiling hear, just speaking in general terms)

Yep, the Middle East is getting pretty old now.

I would definitely like to see some infrastructure upgrades. However, all of the improvements are just larger wastes of money. California is supposed to have a bullet train which is estimated to cost $56 billion to build. What fucking idiot concocted this idea? It costs more to ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles than it does to fly (which is faster in almost all instances). No one will use the damn train. California is not mass transit friendly, we are stuck on cars out here. There is honestly no way to change it. So instead of spending $56 billion (it will be more, it's a fucking government project), why don't they just give us the money to fix up shitty highways? I'm just pissed that they're not putting a bullet train in the northeast since that's the only place it would have a chance at working. Or we could upgrade the goddamn grid and then be more solar friendly. I don't know if this government spending to get out of the economic rut will work or not, but we might as well spend our dollars on useful shit instead of putting it towards bullshit projects like they have in my city. None of that was hate towards you, that was just me ranting about a future infrastructure project in California; I was agreeing with you.

I feel you and was thinking the exact same thing when I saw that going down in Cali.  I wanted it here so I could go to NYC and VT in the same weekend without flying and staying hammered the whole time. 

The reason it's so damn expensive to make a big project happen is my next gripe.  Fucking unions.  No, carpenters- as much as you are a skilled craftsman you shouldn't be getting $65+/hr plus bennies.  Unions fuck America by making shit so expensive you can't make it happen.  They further perpetuate their fuckery by strongarming major projects and making it damn near impossible for smaller, non union shops to bid on them.  Once they're in, the good 'ol boys take over and start fucking it up every way they can.  Look at the Big Dig.  Holy fuck, talk about misappropriation of funds...  They're STILL catching people who imbezzled shitloads through contracting loophopes and backdoor deals out of that clusterfuck. 

Maybe if we would be honest with ourselves and admit that we don't need four people standing around watching the 5th guy work, everybody getting paid time and a half because the job is over schedule- again because of union laziness and red tape.  They literally get paid more to work slower once they've won the bid so they can say whatever they want to win it.  So yeah, fuck unions.  We needed them in the 1920s.  We DO NOT need them now.  They're just one more reason we're losing this international foot race because we feel we should have big fucking solid gold boots on while we do it.
