UBC or UVic

Those workaholics are going to college to learn, and if you aren't going there to learn what's the point? If you want to party, both Uvic and UBC can throw down but I would guess UBC on average would have bigger parties. I don't like the layout of UBC though, I much prefer Victoria as a city to Vancouver.

Uvic is definitely known for their parties. Seeing that you're just entering university, I would suggest doing your first few years at Uvic, get all your partying out of the way and then transfer to UBC for your final few years. I would say you have a better chance of finding a job from UBC through Co-op and networking.

UVIC is known as a party school and has a 60% female population I don't know what you're talking about.  Victoria sucks compared to Vancouver city wise.  Outdoor activities are about the same, the cities are on seperate levels..?

I am going to learn, I just don't see the point in spending literally all of your time studying, learning shit before you do it in class just to boost that 94 to a 99.

What's bad about the layout at UBC?

Uvic has co-op too, 16 months of it.

And i think I'll option in management if I go to Uvic- get some business, marketing and entrepreneur courses in there.

Honest truth, you'll probably party significantly less at UBC. Based off this year, there was NOT much going on at campus. Like, campus was dead for most of the year. If you're 19 and stoked on the whole club/bar/show/whatever scene, then Vancouver is great, but if you just want to party at school it won't happen too much past the first couple months.

Engineering is also a massive workload, and it will be difficult to fit in skiing, partying, and school. Nevermind sleep. But, I know people that were in engineering that did great for themselves this ski season. All about how you prioritize.

As for UBC's campus.... It is big, yes. And sometimes, it will take you longer than 10 minutes between classes to walk. But after you've spent 6 months there and you're still finding new stuff, you will be grateful. The campus is honestly fucking beautiful, and there's tons of stuff to do, wreck beach is super close, lots of longboarding all around, stuff's always going on in the SUB, campus bars.... Basically, I feel like at a campus that wasn't so awesome and nice, I probably would have gotten bored really fast. There is a price, but I think the long walks are worth it. 10 minutes across campus really isn't bad.

And a word of caution... In engineering, learning stuff before you do it in class isnt just extra work, its a survival tactic. If you rely on your classes to teach you material, you will die. Your textbooks are your bible, spend lots of time reading them. The sleep/school/social life thing reeeaaally holds true.

I have finished 2nd year engineering at UBC

If you're going into engineering and you aren't just going to university because your parents want you to; ie, you are actually in it for the education, go to UBC for sure. An engineering degree from UBC will get you way farther than an engineering degree from UVic. The party scene is crazier at UVic - but that doesn't mean you won't party at UBC if you live in residence, there is much to go around. The competition is stiffer at UBC, but if you put your grind down and actually try, you will have no problem staying at or above average. I honestly don't try THAT hard, I mean, I do take it seriously and I study hard for exams, but I also procrastinate and chill a lot. I still manage to stay consistently 10-15% above average in my courses. Plus you are way closer to Whistler and the local mountains at UBC, and you will have no problem meeting people to carpool with.

If you value the knowledge and job placement the most, UBC might be a better option since it's bigger and better known. I don't really know the engineering program at vic too much, but I do know that they're known for both the hardest workers and the craziest partiers.

Why are you spending money on post secondary just to party?

UVIC BLOWS! Went there for 2 years and had to get out! Every party was broken up at midnight and plus..NO SKIING! I lost my Mind!

K guys, I don't really have a monstrous urge to party. It's just that I'm getting a university degree, the school doesn't make that big of a difference to me, so I'd rather go to the one that I'll have the most fun at. So things that are fun at uni are things like parties and girls, but that's not all I care about.

OK so pretty much everyone is saying that the education gap is quite large between the two, so i guess ubc is the better choice. As for me I'm really fucking chill, get along with everybody, so like hippies in vic are cool. I like chill people but sometimes I just really want to go do shit and my good chill buddies don't. In van there'd always be people to see and shit to do when I want.

like high 60s for uvic and high 70s for ubc, that's like the minimum to apply for it, to actually get in unless you have retardedly good extra-curricular it's like mid 70s for uvic and mid-high 80s for ubc

You get to hang with really cool people, like me. And a few others, who are less important..

Get some volunteer work under your belt and pull your english grade up to 80s or 90s if possible. Essay skills will instantly take a large workload of arts stuff off your belt. Plus they help you get into hard programs because UBC loves supplemental applications. Particularly first year english, if you can write an essay you can do all your assignments in like 3 hours and pass the course.

You will also need to be unreasonably good at math and physics to have a decent time in engineering. I suggest you work your ass off in those 2 subjects starting now.

its not that my work was bad , its just that i didn't finish many of the assignments because of procrastination and skiing every day, i plan on finishing the rest of the assignments within the last month of school remaining, next year i guess im going to have to bare with not skiing as much, then take a year off and ski after high school then go to university , im probably going to do business unless i find time next year to do physics 20 and 30 along with all the courses im taking

What's unreasonably good?
I get 90 in both doing shit all for homework/studying
