except that this is the fastest street legal car on the planet

atom ran a 1min15.1sec on the 'Ring. This car ran a 1min09.9sec. Shit is scary fast.

Non-televised laps

Occasionally attempts at the Power Lap record are made without the support of the BBC. The following laps of Dunsfold were recorded, filmed and promoted independently of the Top Gear television programme.

  1. 1:09.9 – Ultima GTR720 (Anonymous driver, on slick tyres. Ultima came back on 19 October 2009 and beat both their previous time and that of the £1.1M Ferrari FXX track car[22])
  2. 1:12.8 – Ultima GTR720 (Anonymous driver, on road tyres, sponsored by Ultima Sports.[2])
  3. 1:17.4 – Caterham 7 CSR 260 (Driven by Rob Jenkinson, sponsored by Dunlop Tyres – Injection.[23])

Ultima claim that their motive for running a non-televised lap was that they felt that the GTR was being specifically ignored by the producers of Top Gear.[24] Why Dunlop – Injection chose to run a lap of the Dunsfold circuit is not stated, although it is noticeable that the slower "official" Caterham run was limited by cold tyres.

and be slow as hell compared to this- everyone has it- and you wont stand out in the gumball


the reason its spewing all the smoke is the motor has just been rebuilt- ie the turbos have been re primed leaving excess oil- anyone who has rebuilt a turbo motor will know that for the first few miles it burns a shitload of oil as everything gets back in order

im so glad you decided to reply to this abomination of a thread...most of the comments in here hurt my head

For everyone complaining about it sounding like shit or looking ugly....this car is a true autho enthusiasts car, it was not built to please the masses..its the quintessential super car and was built to do only one thing: go fast

it's not your run of the mill luxury super car like most lambo, ferrari, etc that will only cruise up and down hollywood blvd to live a neutered life and never see the track...this is a barely road legal balls to the wall race car and I commend jon for buying such an insane vehicle as it shows that he is not some rich play boy, but an absolute adrenaline junkie

you can choose what you want- you can hear the turbos the whole time- combined with the name r1k I think he opted to turbo the original motor- making over 1000 hp


which if done right is reliable on a motor of this size

Please tell me you don't think this car is ugly.....compared to other super cars it is. and you are right, in this case they went more towards the form meets function engineering so looks are a trade off. I was basing my comment on the fact that I though the ultima was the lambos replacement and therefore a step down. He used that lambo as more of a statement of his life style (he had a damn ski rack on it), so I counldn't see him show boating such a beast car around. If its his track car than thats one hell of a track car and pretty sweet.

And wiki, that makes sense. I could hear the turbo winding up but I wasn't sure

I honestly don't think its ugly because like you said its 110% complete form meeting functions I don't think its ugly much like i dont think the ariel atom or caparo t1 are ugly cars even though they might not be the most aesthetically pleasing super car to look at...its just so goddamn raw

first of all not very many people have ferraris jackass, 2nd of all, a Ferrari is more car than anyone on NS could handle anyway, 3rd of all, excuse me for not knowing that the engine had been rebuilt, im not a mechanic like you seem to be. thanks for the lol by saying i wouldnt stand out in a Ferrari

compared to an ultima gtr?- maybe in your town- but you go to miami- or any major city in europe- ferrari's are everywhere-

secondly- most people could handle a ferrari on ns- it has 5 stages of traction control, phenomenal sequential box, you would have to be full blown retard to not be able to drive a ferrari semi fast

gtr on the other hand is a full blown race car- faster than any ferrari- is a monster- and no one will have it at the gumball


so please- kill yourself

ill GLADLY give up what at most 50 mph of top speed (i dont know how fast the gtr is) for one hundred times the aesthetic value. Oh and last time I checked, there were only 400 Enzo's made, so I doubt theyre everywhere chief. The only reason you could handle a Ferrari is because the engineers who made it were fucking geniuses and put a computer system in it that makes it hard to fuck up, otherwise you would.
