So this is a pretty classic dilemma. I'm going to either Whistler or Aspen next January for a month long trip. I have 3 pairs of skis that I could take with me (I'm not going to take my race skis).
1. 2008 K2 seths - 98mm underfoot, mounted 2.5cm back from centre.
PROS - Fat enough for powder, soft enough for powder, I dont get to use them much so it'd be good to use them on this trip.
CONS - Too soft to charge around on groomers, not good for park
2. 2010 K2 extremes - mounted with marker schizos so binding position can be changed.
PROS - Awesome for charging around the mountain, can be skied in powder (but not the best), just all round awesome skis.
CONS - Perhaps too stiff for riding powder all the time if its my only option apart from the armadas, don't really want to use them for rails and park stuff (I'm used to the armadas for that stuff now).
3. 2010 Armada AR6s - mounted core centre.
PROS - Sweeeeeeeeeeeet for park, great fun to charge around on groomers
CONS - Hopeless for powder, they're centre mounted which makes me think they might not handle even basic soft snow ie. anything more than hard pack.
So...which two pairs do I take? If I take the seths and the ar6s I run the risk of not having an intermediate ski for normal days when I might want to ski between the trees a little bit but want control on groomers. If I choose the ar6s and the extremes and we get epic powder I'll be a bit pissed off. If i take the 2 K2 pairs I won't be doing any park stuff (maybe some jumps but no rails).
