Goblin Release Show OFWGKTADGAF

I like OF because their sound reminds me of The Marshall Mathers LP, one of the first cd's I came to love. I love the concepts behind tylers work, He mentioned on formspring that he writes every song as if it were a movie. It makes listening to Goblin a lot different.
I also love OF for the videos they put out. "Litter Life" or "Loiter Life" is pretty much how me and my friends in high school went about things. Its refreshing.


So ya Im not a hipster who loves them cause they are hot right now. That wouldn't make sense being that all of my friends hate their music and no one in utah even knows who they are.

Yes, it's definitely something fresh. Can't quite describe it, but most Odd Future stuff (songs, pictures, videos) has some odd sense of familiarity to early Wu albums, a ragtag group of people with individuality inside a larger group and I love it.

EARL would definitely be my favorite, followed by hodgy (i think he really killed it on the bbc showcase vid for "65") and that was much closer to the just straight up, real rap style that i appreciate. i have no problem with people listening to and supporting tyler, but i feel that it's the people who don't have an extensive knowledge of the genre as a whole, who are hyping him so hard. like for example, someone might come up to me and tell me tyler is the best rapper to ever live, and then i could ask them if they like some classic shit (e.g. kool g rap-actually kind of comparable styles) and they would have absolutely no idea who i am talking about. this is the same reason i get perturbed by the whole atmosphere/alternative rap crowd. you should not limit yourself to one style of hip-hop b/c there is just too much out there to do that. but if you do expand and listen to some more options and at the end of the day you still love tyler then that's cool. i just don't think that would happen all that much if you truly explored hip-hop over the past 20 years or so. and i am not talking downloading your favorite song from a few artists. i am talking about downloading all the albums from an artist, listening to them from start to finish, learning the lyrics b/c you listen to them so much, and being able to make comparisons about production style, flow, subject matter, background, etc. shit needs to be real, ya feel?

OF has lots of songs that are mostly fiction and come off as shock value and are just fun to sing along to and get your anger out.
But Tyler does have songs that I can personally relate to. Goblin isn't all shit. Listen to Nightmare. Or songs like Inglorious or Bastard contain real lyrics as well.
I can understand why a lot of kids don't like OF because they think every song they make is fake/horrorcore... but there's a lot of truthfulness in a lot of their songs.

The mellow parts of Radicals I can relate to. Plus the hyped part is awesome.

Yeah. the order of the tracks is made really well too. there is a lot that goes into this album that us musicians can appreciate (we focus on the little things consumers don't necessarily see) and those with dark thoughts can appreciate. "I'm not a fuckin role model...I'm a 19 year old emotional coaster with pipe dreams" that entire song I can 100% relate to.
