FKS Geze toe Question

So I bought these off ebay ($115 with skis,) without being able to do any research before buying seeing as there were only 10 minutes left in the auction, and I'm just wondering what the difference between the older style geze toe and the newer style toe? Is it full metal like the newer one?
Also I run my din at 8, (I know, don't buy an 18 din binding if you don't need it but they were a great deal,) this is okay right?

If have the same, they go from 8-18 right?
I ride at 10, wich works fine.. but the lower you go to more inacurate (is that the right word and grammar?) they get..but you could let them test in a good shop..

oh and sorry for the double post, but the new toe can pivot in all directions and this toe only does left to right..

a very nice how you can bend the brakes by taking apart the bindings etc etc is in a sticky thread above..

The geze toe is still a great toe (some say it's better than the newer versions, but it's a preference thing). You'll probably have to ride at a 10, having the springs set at the lowest DIN tends to have them back out (effectively setting your DIN to 0...which is bad), 10 may seem a bit scary, but if you want to ride these bindings you'll have to do it to be honest (luckily, FKS can be ridden at a higher than normal DIN "safely" because of the turntable style heel, but it's still a bit of a stretch). If you're uncomfortable with 10, don't mount them, sell them for what you paid and call it a wash and find some 155s.

10 might be a little much for me but I think I could do 9 or 9.5 I think, I weigh 155 lbs with a bsl of around 290 mm, advanced skiing out of the park and lots of jibbin + smaller jumps in the park.

You might be able to get away with 9 in the heel and 9.5 in the toe, the toe is the one that tends to back out more.

And I'm talking about the binding, not you personally (I don't want to tell you what to ride at, just what is the minimum for that binding)

Okay well thanks for the info, I might not actually end up using them for awhile depending on how my griffons hold up for their second season, so I might just grow/progress into them.

i got a pair of FKS with the Geze toe very similar to these of ebay last fall. i love the Geze toe it releases way smoother than any other toe piece i have had. the only problem i had was the shop near my house did not feel confident mounting the Geze toe so i brought them to the shop at my local hill and the old haggard dude mounted them no problem.

Shoot I didn't think of mounting, there is a shop in my town that carries the new fks's, so does anyone know if the jigs are the same for the new style toe and older geze toe?

They should be fine for you. I rode my STH 16s at 11 all year and I way 150. Obviously we may have different rideing styles and such, but give them a shot.

The toe is different, it has a central hole. Old FKS jigs will do both, new ones might not. A competent shop guy will be able to mark and drill the central hole freehand easily though.

Get them tested once mounted to be sure; they're old.
