Hey, so what are really the main differences between for example a powder boot Vs Park boot Vs All mountain boot apart from the flex? just interested to see what peoples thoughts are.
I don't think there are any boots marketed toward "powder" but there are big mountain boots like the Salomon ghost. They are super stiff and have treads on the bottom for hiking. Park boots have less forward lean typically, have usually have some form of shock absorbing, and usually a softer flex.
Generally speaking, the only differences between "regular" and "freestyle" or "freeride" boots is just color, graphics, and in some instances shock absorption.
To say that one boot is better for powder or park or all mountain is mostly a marketing story. Some boots do have certain features like a hike mode or 2-component sole (soft rubber for hiking) or a rubber boot board to absorb landings... but all of these features count for shit if the boot doesn't fit you.
Just get what fits. Look at Mike Riddle- he won Pipe World Champs this year wearing our 130 flex race boot because it was the boot that fit him and his needs the best.
