Replying to College Ski Club, freebies, demos and more, help?

I was appointed the Public Relations officer for my college's ski and snowboard club this year. I'm in charge of getting companies to donate merch, stickers, or come in themselves. Essentialy, I'm in charge of pimpin out their product to our members. Anyone know if companies have specific guidelines for requests or anything? Easiest way to approach companies? Anything that you think is relevant would be awesome. Thanks.
