Rollers?

I'm building a drop in and was thinking about making rollers by using some pvc pipes over smaller metal piping. Has anybody ever tried this?

It's been done and seems to work pretty well. I was thinking about doing something similar without making them roll. I was going to make something like a PVC ladder that I could lay down on top of a an aluminum ladder for my drop in. It's the same concept. The PVC will slide great whether it can roll or not.

thanks, I knew that even if they didn't roll well it would still work good

Not good for lip though. You need to come up with something else for your lip. The PVC will be really tough to set spins off of. Too slick.

yep I was just planning that for the down and it will fade into carpet with a lip

I have made some that worked really well. It took a while but gave me tons of speed. I turned the rollers on a lathe and then made my own bearings. Click for larger image

That's awesome. Looks like there are some pretty big gaps between the rollers.

yeah the gaps are big but its not a problem. I put PVC in between at the bottom. It was more of a mental thing then actually needing them.

I got industrial rollers from the airport for free. They use them to load cargo into planes. Ill post a pic when my setup is complete
