Having a 450hp+ car can be get fucking annoying. Good for the first few years though.

Also I was getting sick of two doors and you can't really take it on gravel. Among other things, I thought it was time to get rid of it.

my car isnt a "supercar" like the hype that surronds the gtr. If you want to do the honda super car from honda vs the gtr, the nsx would smash the piss out of the r33 gtr around a circuit.

Im not a boy racer, i dont need a car like a gtr to feel happy. Im happy with my csx and thats all that really counts.

I think what you're failing to consider is the application of GTR's within their current context.

Supercar, no. But (being Canadian), you'll be hard pressed to find something that'll perform much better than a +/- 10k$ freshly imported GTR. That plus almost infinite mod possibilities for immense power, there is no wonder why these cars have such a reputation.

Due to this, and the fact that the US cannot legally import these cars, further perpetuates their cult status.


I don't really understand why you're bringing the NSX into your comparison as well. Apples to oranges.

You have to spend 3 times the amount of money to get into an un-molested NSX in the canadian market.

And even at that, put competent drivers behind the wheels of each car, and you'd have a pretty even match.

my mate a work has an evoX and fuck that thing is quick, he's spent a bit of $$$ on it and i think he said it's got around 400KW at the wheels. but you can boost those things to up to like 30 pounds or something.

you have no idea. Good luck finding a gtr for 10k that is in perfect shape. For 10k alone you could make a dsm that would slaughter a GTR, fuck even 5k you would be able to make a DSM would eat a GTR alive. How about a JDM WRX? its much cheaper than a skyline and doesnt handle like a whale. NSX and GTR are both top performers from Nissan and Honda, its not my fault the GTR cant hold a value of the car.... they are in the same market for the most part. Its about 30k CAD for a stock which i would gladly pay over a "mad tyte" 600 hp skyline. And the NSX slaughters 99 percent of japanese cars in best motoring on regular basis, so no... the GTR doesnt stand a chance on a track. As a matter of fact the NSX-R is in the top 20 around the ring, the r34/33/32's are fucking leaps and bounds behind.

I'm curious (because you seem really uptight about it) as to why you hold such a vehement grudge against these old skylines?

Nobody in this thread ever said that they were the be-all-end-all. I'm just saying that in my opinion, for what they are presently, they are good value in terms of performance/$.
Maybe not while compared to an NSX-R (again, apples to oranges), but they are very well rounded, well performing cars (for a 3000lb+ awd car).
I still don't understand why you need bringing up the NSX either. We're talking about the used car market. They are not comparable.

I'm also talking out of the box here. Of course you could go drop a few grand into lots of cars and they would be "faster" than a GTR. That is not the point.

And really, I've seen a few VERY nice examples of GTR's (r32, mind you) for the 10k range.
I never said perfect shape. We're dealing with used cars that have been driven and imported. Not collection pieces.

im not going to turn this into a thread about nsx vs gtr. Im just stating the fact you are grossly misinformed on skylines, thats all. Not to mention the fact the hassle involved with JDM cars is not worth it in the least. I owned a JDM car and would not go through the bullshit again. You will not find a gtr that is in decent shape for 10k, thats the bottom line so quit saying you have "seen" nice gtrs for 10k because you do not have an idea of what kind of work was needed to get that car into that current status and what is wrong under the car. A skyline is not a viable option for 95 percent of the population of car... what happens if you get a skyline with a crack in the windscreen in the line of sight?... failed the OOP and good luck getting a skyline windscreen.... How about some suspension joints and bushings are shot? Failed OOP and good luck getting those parts without getting raped. How about you cannot get it passed because it does not have DOT headlights?.... fail. Saying a skyline is a good option at 10k is beyond stupid because you arent taking into account how much it will to keep the car on the road for the upcoming years. Keep in mind a good chunk of JDM cars in canada are auction sourced cars that are sold in japan because they either have some issues or will cost too much to bring back up to japanese registery standards so they are sold or they are straight up "repair" status. How about the good portion of insurance companies that will not insure a skyline because it has no VIN number? How about the fact if the car is insured it has to be ensured as a "collector" car and has a limit of mileage per year, and if its found that you go over this limit you can be sued by insurance or have your policy voided in an accident. They make little sense in our market to own. The OP lives in NZ so its completely fair for him to own one granted, but the fact you are saying you can get a skyline gtr for 10k in canada that is in good shape is straight out laughable.
