Trails/Places to go running

So I've traipsed all over the City Creek Canyon trails, the Liberty and Sugarhouse Parks, and the place at the top of I Street and now I'm getting bored. I just want to switch it up a little bit. For those of you who run in SLC, where do you like to go?

Do you have a ca or are willing to take public transportation to get to other areas of the valley?

Bonnevile shore line is alright, ive explored a lil bit of it the other day and there were many goat trails, seems like that trail could entertain ya for awhile.

Anyone traverse the entire length of it on the east side of the valley? i've done draper to lil cottonwood and parts by the u. i'm looking for some longer mountain biking rides though, anyone on here biked/hiked the whole length?

You could go up to Park City or Bountiful. There's plenty of horse/hiking trails up there. If you're bored running over all of those places just get a bike :).

I always just run somewhere in the foothills.  Behind the dorms on the bonneville shoreline, or just one of the hikes above foothill.  There is one near the H Rock about 1800 south into the foothills that isn't bad.  then right near 3300 south there is this short hike that is a  good run. 

And Antelope Island is really interested.  If you're looking for a mellow hike, or pretty demanding trail run there is Frury Peak hike, 3.4 miles each way.  It's a pretty unique view of the Wasatch.

Oh I didn't even think about Antelope Island, good idea! I've never been out that way, I'll have to check that out for sure. Also, if anyone wants a running buddy let me know haha. The only other person I know who goes regularly is my roommate, but she's done Ironman and stuff so running/working out with her is like suicide. It's more enjoyable when you're not by yourself though.

It's more of a bike trail, but I've seen people running on it too, but the Wasatch Crest Trail is one of my favorite trails in all of SLC. I always started (with my bike) at Guardsman's Pass, but you could always start from City Creek. It would be a hell of a long run, but I have never seen better views anywhere in the SLC area.

Of course, with all the snow you guys got this year, the trail might still be covered in snow.

That's gorgeous! I think running it from City Creek is a bit beyond my ability, I dont know how many miles that would be but I'm guessing a lot. But once the snow melts, I can head up there from Guardsmans. I wouldn't mind getting a bike if I came across something super cheap. I mean, I wouldnt need anything fancy, just something basic to tool around on for the summer would be perfect.

Guardsman's pass is one of the most grueling trails I have ever biked.

But for running, if you're willing to commute to PC, that would be my advice. The city recently said something like 400 miles of maintained trails.

Yeah, PC is no problem. My roommate works for Skullcandy so she and I carpool up there sometimes. Do you guys have any recommendations for places to go up there in particular?

Depends what you like to run, grueling climbs or steady mellow cross country assaults?

Mid mountain can't be beat. If you are bored in the valley you will love it up there. Get a trail map and start exploring!

Every trail. With the HS cross country team, we run lost prospector a lot. All of the trails at Quinns junction (the hospital/field/hockey rink) are good to run on. Mid mountain is a hard one, but a good challenge.

All the trails are made so runners and bikers can enjoy them without a problem, but not without challenges. Just buy a trail map, park your car and intentionally get lost.
