i'd suggest one of the nividia 4xx series, good for gaming and video editing, but not overkill like a 5xx series would be

Video cards will begin to play a bigger role in video editing in the near future. Programs have just begun to utilize GPU programming and the difference can be pretty incredible.
To the OP: I would recommend something powerful but worry about getting the highest end one. I just got a Radeon HD 5870 and its amazing how much faster my editing and rendering is. nVidia cards are good too. Just make sure you buy from a legit manufacture. Try looking on newegg.com for ones that are rated highly.
