Is Pinnacle any good?

So,

I've been editing on a pirated Premiere for a while now, but my computer recently crashed due to a virus, and now my parents are having a family friend of ours that works with computers monitor our files, so I can't really pirate programs anymore.

I'll have to buy an editing program, and definitely am not willing to fork out $700 for Premiere CS5. I'm very familiar with Vegas, it's cheap, and I like it, but it crashes a LOT. From what I can tell this is a huge issue with the program that most people with HD footage have. When I was using it I was saving every 30 seconds or so to avoid loss of my project.

What I was wondering is if anybody has any experience with Pinnacle, and could let me know if its any good or not.

Or if anybody has a way to pirate that wouldn't be obvious to somebody looking for illegal programs on my computer.

your parents actually care if you download shit? just learn to torrent and how to avoid viruses, its really not rocket science

1. you can download premiere as a trial, so if they get mad, just say you got it off the adobe site
2. its easy to find a serial without downloading, but if you have to download a .txt file lrn2delete shit after you use it.
3. lrn2clear your browsing history, cache, and downloads
4. you should be all set if you followed those steps

you could also save them under a hidden folder, or just put all your pirated programs in a folder labeled like school work or something, so the computer guy won't go in there

I recently realized that if I wanted to have any clips in decent quality I needed to use Pinnacle, because Sony handycams have this weird format that doesn't work in Premiere so you have to convert them which makes them look like shit.

Compared to Premiere, its really really basic, Premiere comes with a bunch of built in effects and you can always use After Effects, where as Pinnacle has the very basics, but you can buy a bunch of plug ins for it. If you're not doing anything crazy, just kind of putting clips to a track and some small amounts of color correcting you'll be fine with Pinnacle

if you go to school, highschool/university, you can get sick education discounts on adobe stuff. i am going to buy premiere pro cs5.5 for 350$ soon hahaha.

hahahaha when you can get ae, premiere, photoshop and the rest of the production suite for $450 ($1900 value) i think it is a pretty good deal
