so part of me feels like the lip to my summer setup is too steep. im hitting almost all of my tricks except for a 180 on; im having trouble getting the spin around and part of the reason i built the set up is to get my 2s on down for next season. is the steepness giving me trouble getting that spin or is it just the nature of the turf?
It's not the steepness of your lip that's messing you up; it's that the tranny is too short, especially from flat to lip. Lay your ski on the lip with your tip at the top of the lip and tail pointing to the bottom of the tranny. There will be space between the ski and the carpet. If the space is wider than a tight fist width, then your tranny is not gently enough. Repeat this process at various locations from drop in to flat, on the flat itself, and at different locations from flat to lip and on the lip. Where ever you find that you can fit more than a tight fist between ski and sliding surface, add more material under to make it mellower.
When your tranny is to abrupt, it causes you to lose lots of speed. It'll be like hitting the breaks right before you pop. That makes it a lot tougher to stay balanced. A smooth tranny from down to level to back up is the key to a good set up. PM me if you have questions.
Here's an edit of your pic with a line showing approximately what the shape should look like. This is a best guess and it's tough to do this from a photo. Luckily your photo seems to be a perfect profile shot.
