looks like Dumont is up there with Nate Abbott and the crew in the Red Bull area. Anyone know whats going down? Heard they built some type of nutty channel gap involving the pipe and that the heli is gonna fly down through the pipe for the shots. Wonder if Simon will be able to top last years dragon doubles, which were completely outrageous.

Heard through multiple credible sources that they are building some wild stuff up there for Simon to come get down on. Channel gaps, unique/new heli shots in the pipe, and Simon Dumont were all mentioned. Thoroughly excited. i want some confirmation or hype from the top though!

strange....

i thought that the redbull crew cleared out and then squaw opened the superpipe to the public for a few weekends? theres obviously no way this happened before the pub opening but i wasn't aware of anything crazy going down after that point.

haha yeah i got that i was just under the impression that after the public opening it was just gonna be left alone till nature had its way with it. i was definitely not expecting to see any crazy shit like this but its not surprising, from what ive heard squaws been trying really hard this season to get the big film crews to shoot there.

I dunno man. Red Bull pretty much paid for that entire setup. Squaw just sat back, kept its change in its pockets, and enjoyed the publicity that was coming from it. You'd be amazed at the amount of neglect that Squaw displayed toward its park this year. Real shame, actually. (Not that we need a park at Squaw, but it'd be fun for the end of season.)

To be honest I thought the park was better this season than it had been the past couple of years.

I mainly rode sugar bowl this season and their park is real ass, about the best it gets is when they open up the large jump line, the rest of it is just kiddie jumps and boxes. When I finally rode the squaw park in april i thought 2 of the 3 high camp jump lines were pretty good. the largest line wasnt too huge (which is fine with me, im not in the park enough to want to go much bigger than what they allowed) and i thought the one hip that went over the tree was a pretty cool little hit. more/better rails and longer/bigger jump lines would have been cool, but i wasn't too disappointed.

Let's be realistic though; you're comparing two shitty parks with one another. Squaw can do much better. They should really bring back Mainline, or the large jumps in central park at the very least.

think about it this way. could this potentially the way competition pipes get. i mean everyone pretty much only hits the same areas. save snow, could have longer pipes with less snow and look absurd. sure its look like a circus act but i think snowboard and ski pipe at the competion level is heading in that direction anyways.

It looks like they could also set up a bunch of elevated gap rails like they did in EDIAS but more extreme. The walls would double as a gapped quarterpipe and the gapped rail feature. Could make for some incredible film shots if you have two riders hitting it at the same time.

honestly im surprised squaw doesn't have a better park, it really maintain their image as the go to tahoe resort, and probably boost their cash flow. on the other hand, who really needs man made terrain at squaw? leave it up to places like northstar that don't have enough vert to be fun otherwise.
