I really want to make custom hoodies and vests, can someone give me a step by step instruction to make one? I have never sewed anything before. I want to start off with a simple vest, with a hood and drawstrings, and a different colored pocket, and ribbing on the arm holes and bottom. I was thinking a light blue for the big body part, and a big yelllow front pocket. Thanks, and +K for answers.

Do you live in a major city? If so, or if it's not far to drive to one, go to Fabricland and pick up a pattern pack. Also, you can follow the Crewneck Tutorial and instead of making sleeves, sew some ribbing on the sleeve holes. Don't you worry madam, I'll be putting up a Hoodie Tutorial this summer.

Regina huh? I think they do have a fabricland there. Google map it. Here, I'll give you the exact pattern # I use. I use a Burda 7734 pattern. It's the only one I've found with a sweater pattern, and I mean anywhere. It is designed for like 14 year olds, so the fit could be quite slim even at the largest in-pattern size. Trust me, I've used it before, and my first hoodie was definitely slimmer than desired. So expand beyond the normal dimentions a bit.
