Anybody here on NS a member of some Military branch? If so, which one. I'm planning on joining the Marines straight after high school, anybody else have plans for their future involving the Military?

it's the whole "The Few, the Proud." thing.


Not dissing the marines as they are some tough bastards/are exceedingly badass and I would not want to be the on other side of them, but if it's the few, the proud....then why is it that literally every single kid who's graduated from my old high school in the last 4 years has made it through no problem?


I'm considering joining some branch once I'm totally done with school. The only ones I've effectively eliminated is the Marine Corp and the Coast Guard.

If I could serve on an Iowa-class battleship, I would join in a heartbeat.


My current list would probably go Army, Air Force, Navy. For some reason I like the idea of joining the army. And all this is of course post-college, so ideally as an officer. Though if I wasn't going to be an officer I almost definitely wouldn't join.

I hope you like paper work. What MOS would you want, I know as an officer you don't always get what you want. My PL wanted military intelligence and they said well you're going to be infantry so we're stuck with a bitch ass Lieutenant.

it was alway my dream since i was a little kid to be a pilot in the naval air force, and i had letters from congressmen and had corresponding with the president of annapolis, and i was working so hard on my grades, and then i found out that i have the shittiest vision ever, its cant be corrected, and i can never be in the air force. :'(

You can still go to the Naval Academy with bad eyesight, lots of other cool stuff out there.

i think holdenbro is, my brother is an alumni, and i almost went, but ended up tearing my acl and having surgery a few months before plebe summer was supposed to start, so i didn't end up going.

meh, it's all good, i have a job i love now, and live in an unbeatable location, where as if i went navy air as i wanted to i'd be stuck in fresno, ca, or virginia beach, both places i can pass on.

Was part of my dads contract security team he runs in bagdhad. went to iraq and did security for the generals and top ranking iraqi officals such as the prime minister over the last 4 months.

so your friend illegally smokes the crackhead version of weed, probly wasnt exactly winning any ribbons or medals, and expects the military to reward this behavior with acheivment based promotions, and opportunities to join elite units.

Ruthless....? Funny I found it more ruthless when a bunch of Iraqis ambushed, kidnapped a few Blackwater guys who were driving food trucks or something and hung them with steel cable from a bridge and lit the bodies on fire and left them
