Anybody here on NS a member of some Military branch? If so, which one. I'm planning on joining the Marines straight after high school, anybody else have plans for their future involving the Military?

I'm in the Army ROTC program at my school. I'll be a senior next year and in roughly 365 days be commissioned a second lieutenant. It sure has been hell so far balancing everything but i think it'll be worth it in the end.

cousins on both side of my family, one were pilots for the airforce, the others were ground troops in Iraq, My uncle was in the military.   Grandmother was a marine and my Grandfather was in the army.

I just graduated boot camp 3 weeks ago from the Air Force. Now I'm in tech school learning my job that I will be doing for the rest of my enlistment term. Shoot me a message dude if you want some serious info. I can already tell you it's the best decision I have made so far.... Oh and when I get out of the Air Force in six years, the job I will get on the outside will be easy six-figure. So yeah bro hit me up and I will answer any questions you have.

Any anyways, a large hassle would be if I disapeared to the himalayas to become a budhist munk, learn the ways of Chi and being one with nature, become enlisted in a top secret underground fighting ring and get my ass kicked consistently for five years by a breed of fighters that the Chinese gouvernment has produced, once I can beat one of those fighters, I will travel to the bottom of the ocean, wrestle a Blue Whale and ride it back to the surface, once I have completed all of those steps, I would be truely jacked.

i applied to military college (canadian) and got so close to getting in as a pilot. i scored a 58 points on the interview (needed 60 to be admissible into piloting) and all the rest woudlve been good, that got me pretty pissed. anyways ill just reapply in 2 years after doing reserves and then we'll see what happens, i can't wait, looks like its going to be one of the best decisions ive made in a while.

I'm starting BCT at the Air Force Academy this June, so I guess I don't have any advice based on experience, but I think depending on you personality type the military can be a great way to go.  Some people will likely feel the need to hate on you for considering it, especially in NSG, but make the decision for yourself based on only your beliefs.

Good luck man, the Marines are bamf!

My dad was a specialist in the army and a tank commander/driver. My good friend received the purple heart serving in Iraq with the marine corps. My other friend leaves may 31 for paris island for the marines but he has been training with them for several months now. The recruiters had him run two 8 mile laps around the fort with weights on. My uncle is a Colonel in the Army also. They all love it.

anyway, yes. im going to join the marines when i graduate next year. right know they have almost a year waiting list to get in, they just cut something like 20,000 soldiers. (so if you are 17 yet and i hope you dont want to join just cause you played black ops, but if you are 17 and still in hs, you should enlist now so you can already get on the list to get in) have your parents go in to a recruiter with you. but im also only going in for 4 years to get college paid for.

depending on how my financial situation looks mid-summer I might wind up joining the national guard so I can finish up college. I'd rather have a military background then be up to my eyeballs in debt. I'd probably miss a semester but I'm not going to be too heartbroken about it.

I was accepted to the Naval Academy so ill be heading there for plebe summer in a couple weeks. the military seems like a great choice (not that i would really know yet). the only downer is leaving all your friends/family and such and having a completely different life

Just signed my Security clearance papers with the army and took the EAST..still in the early stages of signing but im 18 and should be taking my PT test and ASVAB next friday. Need to decide on a MOS...anybody have any advice? Im thinking MP because i plan on becoming a police officer when im out but if there are any good jobs that people recomend plz share.

Little brother who is also a NS'er is a Marine- Machine Gunner and he is doing pretty well. His next step is towards recon and then once his contract is up finishing college and re-enlisting as an officer.


All I will say about the Marine Corp is they are a cult. They are insanely loyal, cocky as hell, and are pretty much all fucked up, ready to die for one another and our country. I would not want to be the enemy when the Marines are coming thats for damn sure.

I have to say seeing him makes me want to enlist after school. Not marines though- fuck that- I would die at Parris Island- something nice like the Navy or Air Force

my two best friends are both officers in the marines(both are closer to me than my blood family), and i honestly cannot think of two people better suited to be marines. Both maxed out the physical fitness test, both have college degrees, 1 in biochemistry, and they are both really fucking physically rough and tough. But they also have really good heads on their shoulders. I have no doubt that they will be wrecking the right peoples shit when the time comes for shit wrecking.

Its really tempting to join them.



being a navy fighter pilot would be the ultimate job...on the real though.
