not incredibly under powered at all, the engine doesnt have a lot of torque, but a 210 hp engine in a 3000 lb car is pretty damn good stock. the rx7's engines are notorious for engine problems, the rx8's from what ive heard are pretty damn reliable, just go through oil quicker. the powerband is amazing when your say, driving up a mountain pass, keeping it above 3000 or so, it just keeps going and going, the car feels much faster accelerating out of a corner than it does accelerating in a straight line. where in something like an STI there is such a power delay, and it peaks quickly, and i think it feels slower coming out of a corner than it does in a straight line. cars like the rx8, s2000, e30 m3, miata, have an engine made to work with the car in a corner, where most peoples definition of a fast car, seems more engineered to get a quick 0-60, and be more exciting for your average shitty driver who spends 30k just to accelerate in a straight line quickly.
the rx8 is a drivers car, its not designed around numbers and giving the driver bragging rights, which unfortunately, is all most drivers care about, because most drivers suck.
