^Get a book called Lucky You by him. Though it isn't his best, Tourist Season is, it's a great way to start with Hiaasen. His books are full of darkish humour and the craziest characters ever. They are super fast reads, too.

Richard Rankin is the funniest and wittiest author I've ever read. If you like the other guy, read anything by Rankin.
