Replace dakine sternum strap?

the sternum strap on my helipro pack slid off. The piece is not broken, but I am not able to get the little clasp back on there. It is a small c shape and fits over a fat nylon lip so that is stays on and moves up and down, but does not come off. Has anyone had any experience putting them, the straps, back on to the pack?

i've torn mine off in a crash and i simply sewed another one to the shoulder straps in a fixed position and i'v been very happy about it, i didn't adjust it alot anyways ....

I'm pretty sure most dakine packs have lifetime warranties so I'd try that if I were you. I had a zipper on my backpack break and they replaced the backpack with a newer model which was pretty cool.
