Time for a new forum section?

Gear talk has turned for the worst, and is no longer gear talk. Recently i have found myself viewing the TGR tech talk for real discussion about ski gear. Our gear talk has turned into "what skis help!!!" or "which boots??????". I think we need a new forum section called gear suggestions (or some other name) to help provide n00bs a place to ask horrible questions. With a new forum section we could restore gear talk to a discussion based forum about gear.
P.S. - Just an idea please only productive ideas an opinions.

i dont really go in gear talk and all that stuff cause i dont pay attention to new gear and skis really but i don't even like that they exist, i liked it way more when there was just one big ski equipment forum (and id even prefer less division than that)
more forums= fewer people in each one. i can't stand when i make a thread and it gets moved to gear talk or media and arts. thanks, now i will get 1/100th the responses i would get normally...
your idea is even worse (no offense) because how many people (that are knowledgable about gear) are going to go in a forum that is exclusively for noobs asking questions? a few well-intentioned people will go there but in general it's not going to be a busy forum with lots of answers. on the other hand, if that same thread was in gear talk, or better yet in ski gabber, thousands of people see it and if by chance they know the answer or can help they will
that's my feeling on the subject

Their should be "Actual Gear Talk" and "Noobs asking which size saga Gear Talk".

I'm not. I've never asked what size saga or which skis (other than for pow skis, but that was a legit thread) or which boots or how steezy I will look.

Gear talk moves slower than a lot of other forums, it absolutely crawls in the summer. If you're sick of size questions, get some good review threads and knowledge threads out on it, you can make threads you know.

i have to agree gear talk is a disgrace tgr has us beat by far. they actually have discussions about equipment. for example someone will ask her ar7 or punx. and someone will recomend a bangs or some totally different style of ski. if it wasnt for a handfull of people geartalk would suck completely.

they can do some research, go to a reliable shop, and ask questions with the material in front of them.

it seems like a good idea, and ski threads arent really the problem. its threads about how to look cool and get biggger tall tees and get boots that wont make your shins explode when you afterbang too hard. and the forum is getting clogged with things like that, instead of new gear, educated (maybe educated is a bit of a stretch for newschoolers, but...) discussion, and interesting questions that actually require advanced thought and an intelligent answer.

that is quite possible. its also possible that the season is over, and there has not recently been a saga/fd/jiberish line drop.

not really, my local shop doesnt know SHIT, i will never take their word for anything! i was getting fit for boots and the dude asks me "what kind of skiing do you do"? i respond: "pretty much park all the time, but some trees" and he says "oh, so you will defenity want a stiff, high preformance boot" (race boot). i left after that
and for skis, all they have is some afterbangs, and a couple k2s and adicts.
what if someone wants a ski their shop doesnt sell like a small company like on3p, bluehouse, moment, and many others?

see do research and RELIABLE shop. talk to a friend who skis and knows his shit. read some reviews. make a thread. ski threads arent that bad, i like to help people. see previous posts for correction.
