Hello NSers, i'm looking for a new longboard...the one my friend gave me for free is a Sector 9 40' pintail and it's just way too big and heavy for me to carry around. (i'm like 5'2 and its litterally almost as big as i am. sadface). Therefore i'm looking for a drop through board that is roughly 36-38' and is just an all around campus cruiser. K+ for helping!

I absolutely love my BC Eel, but at 41" it's going to be way to long for you. And although I've never ridden a Moray, I can vouch for BC's awesomeness in everything. They're a smaller company, so they put a lot of time and attention to detail in all of their products, plus, you can make a custom graphic for your board (free of charge) too. Shit's legit.

Try out a Moray then? They're 38" but I hear that if you need custom board design/shape/flex that they might do it for you if you contact them about the things you need in a board ahead of time.

consider top mounts that have a short wheelbase, use trucks that have soft bushings (you sound small and light), and that would make a board with very responsive and quick turning. I have a bustin spilff with paris 150's, and use two soft cones for bushings so I can pedestrian slalom around campus.

actually, drops are easier to push, which i'm imagining you do a lot of on campus. I know I do. bustin has nice drops, the maestro mini is a small one.

taking everything into consideration, thanks a lot everyone. quick question about wheels though...i know there are different types and softness etc but what should i use if it just campus cruising and the occasional hill or so. i'm still relatively new so i don't know how to slide etc yet but eventually i would like to get there or a few tricks here and there. any help with parts is much appreciated!

BC moray would be perfect, super light bamboo construction and around 38 inches. Or buy my evo, but its kind of a tank weight wise

70-75mm 70-80a wheels would be great for just cruising. Bigger wheels ride over cracks easier and are generally faster because of it. Softer wheels have more grip and are a smoother ride compared to hard wheels.

I'd go with 75mm 80a monster hawgs. They are soft enough to roll over things easily but keep speed well. Also, don't worry about abec ratings on bearings, get the cheapest bones reds there are and they'll last you a pretty long time with some care

Don't get the evo if you are just going to be cruising. Its an intense, super stiff downhill board.

I would get either a bustin maestro(I love my friend's), The Flexdex 37 incher (L37?), or a loaded dervish, which can do pretty much anything.

I love my bhangra. It dances, carves, pumps, slides, bombs, you name it, it does it. But its 48.5 inches, so its a bit out of your range of length.

dont get big wheels. you wont notice the increased roll speed unless you are racing. lower wheels will put you closer to the ground and will cost less/ be easier to accelerate and gain speed.

i'd reccomend some 78a abec 11 flashbacks. they are great for everything, and slide like butter, not to mention they are about 35 bucks. dont buy into the otang hype

i ride a vendetta with big zigs and bear trucks... slided when i want it to and grips everything i love it
but at 40in might still be big. for you im sure you'd like anything with a nice flex id say check out the apex 37

.... as for slides if your just trying to get into it buy a hard wheel with rounded edges and youll be set.. check out the abec 11 freerides
