I think saying you are straight edge is the gayest thing in the world. Why label yourself when people bitch about how everyone labels each other. I respect your decision not to partake in drug doing and alchohol drinking, because thats what straight edgers mostly dont do, but you dont see the people who do do these things goin around and bein like 'oh im rough edge'. And in calling yourself staight edge you can believe you are better than everyone, but are you really gonna think your better than someone because of a couple of words?

That sentence doesn't mean anything. How can a plant be the 'oldest recorded'? You mean the one mentioned in the oldest historical records? Which records are these? Because... you'd think grass, or reeds, or sticks of some kind. I'm betting you could find a nice caveman drawing of some sticks.

Records that describe the plant. Hemp is the most durable natural cloth, paper n all sorts of shit. There are heiroglyphics all over egypt, there was even a common symbol used for Cannabis.

I'm sure. I'll also bet that there is some record of Mesopotamians describing the wood they used to build their ships 500 years before the first egyptian villages were constructed, not to mention their houses, medicine, etc... I'd also wager that the egyptians described plenty of plants, and that there's no way of telling whether cannabis was 'the first' out of the ones they did describe.

Ok, Hammurabi's code is crica 1800 BC. I'm talking about 4500 BC. Hell, we have sumerian writings from 3500 BC about everything from farming to religion on clay tablets, you really think plants weren't mentioned?

Erik, there were plenty of civilizations before Hamurabi, but we get it. Hebrew kings would be bathed in cannabis oil, and this was a very sacred rite which was extremely important. Although I'm all for smoking and drinking, the bible says plenty of stuff that doesn't really fly today. But it's still a good point.

Back to the point, being 'straight edge' is a choice, just like being catholic is a choice. As long as it's not forced on me, and people like Misty7 and his crew don't hate on non-straight edgers, fine. But if some straight edgers think they are so great, I say pack your bags and move to Utah, motherfuckers.

I dunno about these straight edge peolpe but it have reasons for not drinking/smoking.

1) I've been drunk before, didn't really like it. Tried it again, didn't really like it again.

2) Weed has fucked up my friends so I'm not even gonna touch that shit.

3) The second time I got drunk I almost got busted by the cops. Thankfully I'm a good liar and I was 50% sober.

People who think weed is bad are just sheep. so go on, say what youre supposed to, 'baaaaahh'.. go on... its one thing to say 'its not for me' but its a totally different thing to say its bad or it messes people up. if you think 'weed' messed someone up, they were already messed up to begin with and the weed just made them want to not have to hide it anymore.

If you're truely straight edge, its more than just not smoking and drinking. It usely includes being vegan also, being very politically active, listening to hardcore/punk music, abstaining from sex with multiple partners. And with my experiences being extremly intolerant. Example: My friend getting sent to the hospital because a bunch of sxe's didn't aprove of his lifestyle.

Well saying weed is bad doesn't make you a sheep, since a ton of people think smoking weed makes you cool somehow. Do what you do for your own reasons, and tolerate other people's decisions. But, to quote south park, just because you tolerate something doesn't mean you have to like it. You 'straight edgers' on this site should loosen up a bit. Don't call yourself a straight edger if you aren't one; are you a hooligan who listens to a lot of punk and beats up drug users? No. Then you're not a straight edger.
