I think saying you are straight edge is the gayest thing in the world. Why label yourself when people bitch about how everyone labels each other. I respect your decision not to partake in drug doing and alchohol drinking, because thats what straight edgers mostly dont do, but you dont see the people who do do these things goin around and bein like 'oh im rough edge'. And in calling yourself staight edge you can believe you are better than everyone, but are you really gonna think your better than someone because of a couple of words?

It can be done pretty easily. I've never even tried so much as a cigarette in my life, and during the school year I go long periods without any real drinking. It just takes a small measure of self-control and willpower. It's not really anything to brag about. Anybody should be able to do it... if you can't, you have a real problem.

Compared to people who drink and shit people who are straite edge dont say shit about what they dont do. You never hear some one going up to a firend in school and saying wow not doing anything friday and being straite edge was so great!. But I agree with the majority of people here. People that go around saying 'I got so fucked up last weekend' or people who think they're cool cause they can drink anyone under the table is just bullshit. It's not a sport, it's killing your liver and drugs are just fucking up your brain. My friends are smoking more and some are getting into ecstacy and it's just bullshit.

Personally, I'd rather say 'I skied the sickest line last weekend' than 'I got super fucked up and boned this slut and then stole a cab ride and puked all over the floor and fell down the stairs last weekend'.

Anyways, living to get screwed up is...screwed up...but I think that most people can live with enjoying a beer here and there without making such a big deal out of it. It's much more likely to be an issue if you treat alchohol and minor drugs (weed) as this huge thing to stand against. Okay, you don't want to do it..fine! But if you're on this whole kick about you being the sterile person away from all this, when you do encouter it or whatever, you're gonna freak out. I think it's probably better to just ease into it. Have the judgement to know whats okay and whats not, don't make such a big deal out of it.

being straight edge is alright with me. one of my best bros is an 'unclaimed' straight edge. but i know some people who are absolutley the most ignorant people i have ever met simply because they think anyone, ANYONE, who has ever drank, or smoked is a complete failure and should be treated like shit. then theres straight edge gangs who actually go out of there way to ruin peoples days.

take for instance the shoe store 'Journey's' i can gaurentee u that the majority of the employees there belong to the so called 'courage crew' straight edge gang. and they will try to beat ur ass if they find out you drink or use any form of drugs.

this to me is a fucking joke. why would you block something out of your life while inviting and even provoking even worse happenings, i.e.-violence, hatred, overall ignorance. to me the lifestyle is in itself a way for people to simply belong to a group because they feel the need to have a label over their name and be part of something in which other people are involved in.
