Need Non-Copyright Music

i made a thread on this and I ma in pretty much the same situation. The only solutions I have found is to go to jamendo.com, and everything is free, but that would be about all I can say is good about it (it is very hard to find good music). I have tried emailing record companies/artists, but no one has gotten back to me. I haven't even been able to find a site that will let you pay a reasonable rate for music that is half decent. I think the main problem is that it is such a limited market (low budget for non-commercial or small scale).

Thanks for the link man. Just to clarify though before I look into the site more, I can download it for free, but I have to pay if I want to use it in a video?

I'm not really sure about copyright laws in Canada, but in the US if you are in school, and working on a "School Project" that is not being created to be sold, then the copyright laws become "fair use" and that pretty much means you can do whatever you want with the music, as long as you are not selling the final product, and altering the original product.

 

Yeah, I don't think this is the case for my situation. It's not really a school project, it is just involving my classmates. The executive director of my school volunteered a bunch of us to do this job for the festival. I think we are going to get marked on it in the end, but it's purpose is to display for all the sears drama festival guests.

So its non-profit... meaning that you should be able to use any material?

If you are on a mac you can throw together some half decent songs in garage band in like 20 minutes and you can make them for the mood you are going for so thats an option.

i thought this was the case, but for my school project I have to abide by copyright laws because my teacher wants to put them on public access.

and OP, it should say on the individual songs, all of it is free to DL and use, there are just different laws in regards to giving credit, commercial vs non-commercial, and licensing your project. For most songs on that site, you can use for non commercial as long as you attribute
