Just got a Nikon D7000

Hey guys I've been reading as much as I can about HDSLR's because mine is in the mail.  This is my first and I do have film and photography background so I'll know how to use it well enough at first but I know I have a lot to learn.  Anyways, basically I'll be using it mostly for fly fishing photos and hopefully some sick HD fishing edits.  Everyone seems to bash on Nikon for their video but I've seem some real nice quality stuff produced.  Basically does anyone on here own and shoot with a Nikon that can say something positive about this camera to get me stoked.

I just did a D7000 test the other day.  Compared to the rest of the Nikon line that I've tried I felt that the body of the camera was very solid and well built, and the manual features were conveniently located on body of the camera with its own dials versus inside the menu screen how it is on other Nikon's.  I also liked the Live View video feed with viewable manual adjustments. 

It's a great camera.

No I did research.  I currently have 2 nice Nikon lenses so instead of trying to sell them and then research new lenses to buy I figured I would go with a Nikon and see how I like these first and get a feel for shooting video with a dslr.  Also I plan on shooting photos also which the Nikon excels at.  It was a simple trade off and also the Nikon has a metal body instead of the all plastic on the 60D and considering I'll be using this in the outdoors shooting fly fishing and hunting I figured that would be a plus.

i love love love my D7000. it does everything i want it to do and i never feel limited with it like i did with my D60. i have no complaints. im more of a photographer but i've taken some vid too and got some super sick shots IMO. it's the best.

Also it has the autofocus feature for video which possibly might be helpful in situations considering I don't have the money to but a dedicated follow focus unit.  I plan on focusing manually when I can but I anticipate there are times when autofocus might be nice.

from what I have heard, the autofocus is essentially a gimmick, and you will be much better off stopping down the lenses when possible

although it says its terrible its not that bad and little adjustments it does really nice, at least on Af-s lenses but with others sometimes you just hear it focus in the audio.

Ya I think the 100% range of view through the viewfinder might be nice for shooting film to.  Not a huge deal but nice nonetheless.  I'll be sure to post up some video once I get it and start filming.

the viewfinder is unusable while filming/using live view, the mirror is up...
