Film/Editing Job?

I was just wondering if anyone out there wanted to hire me in the industry, or if anybody you knew was looking for a filmer/blogger/editor...etc. I make edits and I'm just looking for something to do and a bit of extra cash. I'm 17  and I've been filming and editing for just over two years, I film pretty much anything, but specialize in extreme sports. Currently I am blogging for grouse mountain (Vancouver, BC) @ www.grousepark.com. I shoot with a Canon rebel t2i in HD and edit in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Here's some of my recent work.





If anyone knows of anyone that is looking to hire, if you gave them a shout that would be rad. Im willing to do anything at pretty much any rate, or even if you're a good rider, give me a shout and I'm down to film.

that edit is sick. and yea me and my friends are thinking about making some edits next season, my friend has made a few but if we could get a good qualety one that would be awesome. i am mostly into big mountain and pow, but my friends are also into park. do you live in the north west?

Harsh but true.

Get some applications in! There are a surprising amount of jobs available for people who can operate a camera/blog well, and have a portfolio to apply with.

yeah, the ski industry is really tough, getting a job in it is very rare, you're probably gonna have to go outside of it.

also, dude, you need some movement in your shots, all static shots aren't impressive. i mean, you have an hddslr so youre limited with zooming, but you could get a slider and do some movement there, or glide cam and do some follows. even just a wide pan looks better than a static shot. static shots have their place, but not as every shot.

agreed guess those kids just dont want to push the sport in the direction it needs to go, i mean there was like 1 steezy innovative tail press and 0 shuffles.. srsly skiing is turning into non innovative aerials

Heath said it. Not many professional companies would hire you, (no offense, the edits are sick.) so for the ski industry, you would need to either | A. Start your own production company and HOPE it goes somewhere, which by todays standards such as Level 1 and PBP would be really hard to reach that level on an amateur film. But you need a good variety of great riders, a bit more equipment than a tripod, a budget for shooting in different locations, etc. | B. Try to join another amateur crew who is rising up (probably your best bet, but will come with no pay most likely) | C. Keep filming and editing as a hobby, let people admire your work, and pursue a different career. | or as Evan said D. work outside of the ski industry. Many people are hiring, you just have to look around.

yea you tell him, and even then those cork 1's are gettin a little close to aerials. I think the only solution is to get 0 air and pump snake lines and slash rollers all day

Dude you need to switch the angles up. the whole thing was shot from the left side, set on a tripod, same framing. Get creative and mess around with the composition.

Okay just thought I would find an example of more of what I was looking for http://www.youngandreckless.com/recklessrangers it's not really a job but you get some free stuff and discount on items. If anyone knows more companies that do this that would be sick +k for sure.

k bud... ive been shooting (photography) in the "ski industry" for 3 years now...
made just over 300 bucks in 4 years (200 with a go pro in one hour... dont say its bad, you are just not using it right)

i took ONE LOOK outside skiing and found myself 2 jobs in 2 days...
1. I shoot about once a month for an art gallery (they sell on ebay and online i think) still have this job, had it for 2 years....
2. shoot portraits for companies (make 30 bucks an hour...) this is random and i work weekends, its rly easy if you talk to the right people.

so please... skiing is for the cheap and everyone is a filmer these days.

Okay jeeze. I went a little overboard on the main post. I don't really need a "job" that I need to make I living from, I don't even really need a job in general. I'm a high school student just looking for some FUN and a little cash or even just some free stuff. I know there's lots a jobs out there outside of the skiing industry... duh. Just if there was a chance anyone wanted to hire I would be stoked to do it. didn't you read my last post?
