My family is taking a trip to Oregon and California, and their topmost priority is to see the sights, go in the cities, and be urban. I need reasons for my dad to let me have a day at Timberline Lodge. NS, i know that you will give me some legit reasons. Please?
I can't imagine any parent that wouldn't want to see timberline lodge. It's beautiful, near Portland/hood river (please convince him to go to hood river), and also was where the shining was filmed!
exactly. its weird historic site. you can get tickets to jut ride the chairlift up the mtn and ride it back down to site see. only like an hour and 15 outside of portland.
A visit to Mt Hood is probably more profound than a visit to Portland. What does Portland even have worth seeing? OMSI? That postmodern piece of shit known as the Portland Building?
i worked at timberline for a while. it's a super cool place. like people have mentioned, it's a historical landmark with some interesting history behind it. take the forest service guided tour, it's actually pretty sick. you can pay ten bucks for a lift ride to mid mountain and get out and walk around, great views. its only like 50 miles from portland, and it's a super easy drive. plus, you can go skiing in the summer. its absolutely worth the trip if youre going to be in the area. tell your parents to check out the website if they arent convinced.
the only part of the shining that was filmed at tline was the outside shot(s) of the lodge. theres no maze or anything and the inside of the fictitious hotel was filmed in england.
