You may or may not wanna start out on original trucks. Just grab something with a decent wheelbase and reverse kingpin trucks, then loosen them cause a lot of new kids seem to keep their trucks mega tight. If you've never skated before get a decent truck and wheel setup, get a cheaper deck and figure out what shape you wanna ride. Bushings are cheap and an easy way to alter the trucks, so something like paris or randal 180mms will do. You can work with the bushings later.

If you don't like the deck, sell it and buy another, just transplant the trucks.

i woudln't start out on originals trucks, they're really weird. if you were good, they really fun. might be sketchy going fast downhill though.

loaded dervish or loaded tan tien, either with orangatang stimulus wheels and paris 180 trucks. they might be a little explensive but they are amazing

Don't get an original or loaded board. Those companies are only alive because of the "fan boys" they have. The actual product is not worth the price.

Even though almost everyone has one, sector 9 boards are that bad. and they are great for a first board to just cruise on. If you want something that can do everything, then a symetrical dropthrough board would be best for you. I'm pretty sure sector 9 has a few of those. (just search their site and you'll fine some).

On another note, there's a small company longboard builder i've bought from that makes boards that are perfect for what you want. It's called KrackedSkulls (ironic). Here's the website http://www.krackedskulls.com/. The price he sells his deck are unmatched. If you wanna get a good begginer set up, get randall 180's with abec 11 flash backs. Those are two great trucks and wheels for a great price. Also, just get the abec 5 bearings (the other ones are not actually faster).

ok dont trash loaded, although they are expensive, they are durable, flexy, very good for carving, and one of the best for tricks. they are amazing in my opinion and completely worth the extra $

I've owned a loaded for a while... Sold it last month.

I'm not say they are terrible decks. But they do charge rediculous prices. There are other companies that make a VERY similar board, and at a way more reasonable price. *cough* krackedskulls *cough*

I really wasn't ragging on loaded. It was the "fan boys" I was ragging on. the fan boys are the ones that actually buy the boards at that price allowing the company to do that and last. If they would drop their price i could accept the company.

Don't get me wrong, loaded has changed the longboarding scene. In some ways good, and some bad.

To the OP, if you really (and i mean REALLY) want a loaded, then go for it... It's ultimately up to you. Get what you want, not others.

I have been using my friends extra boards but i just ordered a BC eel and thats gonna be the first board ive owned.  Its 230 so if that a little high in your price range look at a cheeper sector 9 if your just going to be cruzing

Way too expensive. The only reason I would ever get a loaded is if I wanted a pure carving machine. There are other decks similar to the tan tien for freeriding that are way cheaper.

Because there are boards just like it, that are much less. (krackedskulls, BC, etc...)

And on one of my previous posts i meant to say that sector 9 board *AREN'T* that bad. Sorry for the mistake. Sector 9 is a legit company.

Also, check out your local craigslist for a cheap used longboard. Sometimes you can find some nice boards for really cheap.

If you're looking for the symmetrical dropthrough free ride type of thing, check out an earthwing superglider. They're pretty cheap, and I've heard nothing but good stuff.

Check out the kracked skulls scimitar or m1. Both amazing symmetrical boards for everything. I've had the scimitar for about 4 years and it is still in perfect shape. They are very durable, rip carves, great for manuals, shovits ect... It also has tons of truck and wheel options and tons of sizes of decks. They are quality hand made boards and the guy is great! He'll answer any questions and do anything extra for you. If you have on slight problem you can send him an email and he will give you a brand new board or whatever it is that went wrong plus t-shirts and stickers for any inconveniences.
They are also very affordable!!! I got mine for like $180. GOOD LUCK! have fun longboarding.
