And today I just got this rush, and panic attack....

7 months until I ski again. It has been a month now, and I'm hurting hard. Ever since I started on NS, being a part of such a tight community has been so sick, and my need to be out on the slopes has really intensified.

Anyone else done their season/planning for next year/missing the snow?

Not with Work It Out. But Eye Trip, and Revolver. And countless films from past seasons. I could still go to Mammoth. But I am broke. And btw, I hate the way girls are treated on here. Sure it's the internet. But people shouldn't talk to women like that in any situation. Juss sayin.

Wow, one thing to say, fuck you.

I ski in an area where there is no option for year-round skiing (upstate new york, quality skiing....), I'm still in highschool so I have to actually go to school, and I'm longboarding, playing tennis and/or working usually during the whole summer, so I actually have a legitimate reason to be missing the slopes right now, okay maybe it was an exaggeration but we all feel like that at some point, don't we?

As for everyone who stuck up for me, thanks....

And skiierman, I think you're a sour, grumpy ginger who needs to get a life.

completely FALSE. i have no phisical way of skiing all year. i have like no money, i live in ny, and my parents would never even think about giving me a dime/ride/take a trip. so unless i walk there or rob a fucking bank, there is now way to do it, oh and i cant leave school. not everyone has the money or abality to go coss country to ski

so stfu and try it yourself before you chirp

That was my feeling exactly when the Dr. told me I was getting my 2nd knee surgery. 3 more months to go of recovery and will be hitting it hard again though! Stoked!

get a job you bum. if you truly miss skiing as much as you say then you'd find out that with hard work and planning, its more than possible to ski year round or at least a couple weeks in the summer to go ski. don't complain about where you live because that's no basis because you can always MOVE. but then again you and that girl are too young and dumb to realize this, so its fine you don't understand that you can do what you want if you're committed.

No skiierman seriously, youung kids have to go to school, usually eventual success later in life is pretty important, and I dunno, when you're 16 you usually don't have a hell of a lot of choice where you live and if mom and dad won't pay for camp/trips to chile/new zealand, you have no choice. Oh and also a lot of what I miss about skiing is simply the snow: and that is something that's completely 100% out of your control. I hoped to get a positive reaction to this thread and it seems a lot of people agree with me, just one ass can make me feel like shit for posting something that meant something to me. And thats you

first off, i have some jobs and bring in a bit of money for future skiing expenses, i cant blow it on a week in the summer and not ski all winter. i am 15 and i cant exactly move to hood, live in a tent, and afford skiing for the summer! and my parents wouldnt be into sending me on a plane or whatever across the country (well they would love getting rid of me for a while) but i dont have the recorces nessesary therefore right now, it is impossible for me and im sure most people posting in this thread are in a similar situation, so chill, get the fuck off your ass and enjoy your year round skiing because your so damn lucky you can!

I really do empathize, it sucks to see the snow gradually disappear, I feel your pain but...

threads like this reaffirm in my head that picking up and moving to Summit County was a really, really solid play. Skiierman might be being an asshole a tad, but the spirit of his post is on point.

That said, I understand that many of you are in high school or are in some other way unable to pick up and go. But, let me say again: If you feel like this year after year, take an honest look at your life and priorities. You CAN ski year round (or closeish) for less money than you probably assume. You just might have to make some sacrifices in the form of relationships, career/educational opportunities, etc.

I have another 1-3 weeks left at grouse, then a fair bit at blackcomb after that. Then I might road trip to hood after that if I can convince my parents. The shakes probably won't start until July for me, by which time I'll be tramping a fair bit and maybe building a summer set up.

If you'd read my post, you'd see that I prefaced the statement to exclude high school kids. Also, who mentioned camps? I'm mid-twenties, have a car, and a full-time job and I can't afford a summer ski camp... I'm talking about kids choosing to relocate their lives for the sake of skiing, not bratty children scraping together money for grossly expensive babysitting camps on snow.

hahaha yeah, my gear... my 2004 foils and DC pro models missing almost all their edges. do you even know who pro models those are? i'll give you a hint... he was REALLY good. dropped out 2 weeks before college started back up, got a job at the resort and an apartment lined up and drove my ass out there. gained residency and now attending college again at a cost way cheaper than previous in-state colleges i've been.

but really, keep assuming you know someone. it's cute to see someone act so damned dumb.

been on NS for only 6 months or so but you sir, are hands down the biggest tool who i have ever seen post on this site.

i am re-reading everything uve written in this thread and i am still unsure if you are being serious or not.  are you trolling?  doin a fantastic job.  i didnt think people could procreate such tools, but hey, learn something new everyday.

I don't like the way he said it but skiierman is kind of right.. I was just out for 10 months because of a knee injury and worked all that I could to make money, so I can go to new zealand this summer, everything that I do is so I can ski yearround cause otherwise if im not skiing im pretty depressed, like you are now, but girl if you want it there is a way ALWAYS you just have to find it. but I completly understand the the sucky feeling of not skiing, and finding that way is really hard, I pretty gave up everything to do what im doing. so goodluck.

Me and some friends just made a rail out of two pvc pipes. It was surprisingly easy to make a rail and we are hoping to make more rails. Probably gonna make a summersetup to. Jumping alot on trampolines to, and working out... Just doing things to make the time go faster... i LOOOVE winter...

I was literally gonna go make this thread earlier...

All I can think about is snow, and it's been not even a month yet since i last went. Massive withdrawls going on right now, and I only live 5 hrs from hood.

I need money, time, and some trip buddies becuase gas is $$ right now.

I feel ya on the gas prices man, here in Canada its even more expensive, like a $1.45 a litre. Its almost impossible for someone to take the whole winter of work and still be able to afford a vehicle. The price of a car is peanuts compared to gas and insurance costs.

NO you are so wrong about this, if you want something; you take it.

A bus ticket from Ottawa to Whistler is 130$, at 10$ minimum wage that is 1 big days work.

A good backpacking tent from kajiji runs about 200$

Only major cost is the ticket; camp of champs is 2700$.

There is 1128 hours until COC opens, at 10/hr thats 270 hours; a pretty small chunk, if you actually want it.

Even if yo couldn't save enough, doors start opening real quick when you tell people you like to work real hard, and are only interested in skiing.

Uhg, yes... 

To keep myself stoked, I hit my home hill with the crew and start hiking to look for new cliffs to huck- once we find something good looking, we make a trail to it and spend the rest of the summer jacked up about hitting all our new stuff.  The hiking helps keep you in shape and just being on the hill when there's no snow around helps you be more familiar with it. 

Big plans for next year.  Can't wait!

You are clearly ignorant.  You just said i am "so wrong" about 14 year olds not being able to afford to ski in the summer, then proceeded to ring up nearly a $3000 bill in order to do so.  Maybe purely in the world of the upper middle class can 14 year olds find $10 an hour tax free jobs in order to save $3000 while having ALL THEIR OTHER LIVING EXPENSES paid for, but most 14 year olds just dont have this option.  I stand by what i said to the max: anyone in this thread shitting on 14-16 year olds for not "making plays" in order to ski in the summer (unless you live within driving distance of Hood) is either ignorant, spoiled, or a combination thereof.

no we're not shitting on you for not doing it, we're shitting on you for making it seem like skiing is your life and you're all about skiing when clearly, you're not. that's not an insult either because you value one priority over another which is never a bad thing when it benefits you. and saying that its impossible for you to do it, to ski all the time, is fucking retarded.
