my late grandfather always said this
imagine the world without any truckers?
if you live in the US imagine no walmart trucks on the highways?

I know more and more "loads" are being moved by train, less costly.

But truckers are a very imprtant part of the US economy.

Yes, i've heard more and more are. That can be good and bad. For areas with heavy traffic, like say the beltway around DC, more trains can be good. For truckers getting laid off, bad.

<3 495 (the beltway)... its easy enough to avoid during rush hour luckily enough. so the traffic i encounter most has nothing to do with truckers.

Yes, my family is from Virginia so every time I go down there, we try to avoid certain parts the best we can, but its hard when you have some family in DC, some in central Virginia, some on the coast, etc

Although Cali might have worse traffic in parts, wouldn't know for sure though, anyone?

spent half my life living 20 minutes north of LA, half living 20 minutes north of DC.

they are about tied most of the time. however, northern VA, around tysons corner, gets REAL bad cause of the constructions (that has been going on for 15 years.. wtf)

Hahaha yea, my dad lived in tysons corner 21 years ago, then moved when i was born. Every time we go down he is amazed by the traffic, construction, and development around there

well in Maine trains used to move everything but then it became more cost effective to use trucks, these days almost everything comes and goes by truck (save the oil tankers but all that crude goes up to Canada anyways). They're talking about trying to expand the railways up here and with the way the price of diesel is going pretty soon it might be more cost effective to move everything on rails again, who knows.
